Umar Johnson AKA Ifatunde
« on: May 13, 2015, 09:38:55 pm »
Calls himself the Prince of Pan Africanism. I stumbled upon him after seeing some youtube videos fundraising for his school that claim the usual "Blacks were the true American Indians" nonsense. He also peddles a very Nuage "Pan African" version of traditional African beliefs.

Johnson claims to be a descendant of no less than Frederick Douglass. His main project is that school, intended to be for Black male youths only. He has quite a few loony conspiracy theories full of hatred of women, whites, and gays. For example, he claims there's a conspiracy by feminists and gays to turn Black males gay so they won't have children.

There's some debate over his credentials here.

There's no transparency to his fundraising at all. He claims to have bought the property, but the bidding was sealed, yet he's still asking for funds.

I wonder who Johnson claims he is descended from in Fredrick Douglass' lineage. Douglass' genealogy is well documented.

Frederick Douglass and a wife Anna Murray did adopt the surname Johnson when they married, then when they settled in a free black community they adopted the surname Douglass. http://www.geni.com/blog/profile-of-the-day-frederick-douglass-4-387751.html Their five children all had the surname Douglass. http://www.loc.gov/collections/frederick-douglass-papers/articles-and-essays/family-tree/
