Wasn't able to find anything by search so just thought I'd ask, having received reliable info from the forums before.  A woman I know was approached to "pay" $100 to be "enrolled" in the Wind River Cherokee operating out of PA.  One of the "clan leaders" wants to "open a branch" (like it's a Walmart) in Baltimore.  Obviously, the words "pay" and "Cherokee" (leave those poor people alone!) leave a bad taste, but I told her I'd try to vet it here.  And sorry for the superfluous parentheses and quotations but I get a little fired up about this stuff!

Thanks y'all!

They seem to be trying to expand from Kentucky. We briefly mentioned them before in http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:y6oB3zEk-yMJ:newagefraud.org/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.cgi%3Fboard%3Dunsure%3Baction%3Ddisplay%3Bnum%3D1130555749+%22wind+river+cherokee&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us

The thread from the old forum doesn't seem to be coming up so I had to use the cached link. Are people unable to see threads from the old NAFPS server?

If they're charging now, my early opinion of them as harmless was wrong.

"Traditional" sweat lodge, too, huh?   :-\

Has anyone reported them to the Indian Arts & Crafts Board?  They are purporting that those items are "native" made.

Educatedindian,
If i may some correction is needed
A few years ago i was introduced to this usu from the wind river of ky that you have on the link
he is the short person in the pic. he was a little naive  and somewhat miss lead by the person on the left which is Don Seizmore who some what wrote two books on cherokee.
Anyway long story short usu has since crossed over and from what i have heard the wind river of ky is no longer and is not tring to branch into PA.
