The Norwegian king’s eldest child, Princess Märtha Louise, will marry American self-professed shaman Durek Verret on Saturday in a picturesque corner of southern Norway.

The wedding comes amid widespread criticism of the couple's actions and waning support for the Scandinavian royals, who have been plagued by negative reports about an unruly family member who faces preliminary domestic violence charges.

Märtha Louise, 52, and Verret, who claims to be a sixth-generation shaman from California, have attracted headlines with their alternative beliefs. She is fourth in line to the Norwegian throne but said in 2022 that she’ll no longer officially represent the Norwegian royal house in order to work closer with her American fiancé.

The princess — she has retained the title — has said she can talk with angels, while Verret, 49, claims that he communicates with a broad range of spirits and has a medallion which helps ward off spells and cure diseases.

They became engaged in 2022. Once married, Verret will not have royal titles or official duties.

In a 2019 deal, Märtha Louise and Verret agreed not to use her connection to the royal house or her title for commercial purposes.

But earlier this year Märtha Louise labeled bottles of gin with her title and launched the brand in time for the wedding, defying King Harald V's directive that she should not profit from her royal status. The label was eventually changed.

The couple also sold their wedding photo rights to a British celebrity magazine and the film rights to Netflix. The deals prompted protests from Norwegian media, which says it goes against local practices. The couple has often lashed out against the press while promoting themselves on social media....

There is a thread on NAFPS about one of Margaret's pretendian protegees, Nathon Breu. I don't believe that it has been referenced or linked here yet. The thread also contains discussion about Margaret. Nathon Breu is currently an associate professor at UW-Milwaukee.

Nathon Breu NAFPS Thread Link: http://www.newagefraud.org/smf/index.php?topic=5671.0

UW-Milwaukee Faculty Directory Link: https://uwm.edu/american-indian-studies/people/breu-dr-nathon/

If you search "Margaret Noodin" on Facebook, you will find public posts from a (legit) Native American UWM student who was targeted by Margaret and Nathon. It's especially concerning in light of this: https://wcca.wicourts.gov/caseDetail.html?caseNo=2020CF001772&countyNo=40&index=0. UW-Milwaukee is putting Native American students at risk.

Yes, I did a quick look-see on Andrew Solis. I only went back a couple of generations and they're all Mexican. His parents moved to Santa Barbara when they were children. And it appears they were high school sweethearts and married right out of high school. They divorced in 1974? I'll have to go back and look just to be sure. Didn't see where anyone was from New Mexico as he claims Acoma Pueblo, but I could be wrong or maybe didn't go back far enough.

His last name is Solis. As in Carrie's father's obituary. I had a really hard time finding him with his current name SOLIZ. I believe he purposely misspelled his name. All names in the census, city directories, marriage records and high school yearbooks are SOLIS.

Andrew is an Artist, Craftsman and Ceremonial Man.  He lives his life with a commitment to share the wisdom of his Native American ancestry. He understands that this way of life can bring a person to their center and allow them to be in good relation with all things. As a Sun Dancer, Pipe Carrier, Artist and healer Andrew humbly guides individuals along their personal path to their true self.  His art pieces are designed to inspire one’s connection to nature and all of creation.

Andrew Soliz is president of the board of directors for the Sawdust Art Festival https://sawdustartfestival.org/contact/our-team/

He continues to promote himself as someone special and extra spiritual.

The podcast interviewer here of Andrew and Carrie is somewhat fawning and reverent of them. https://www.voiceoflaguna.com/podcasts/artists-corner/episode/carrie-rae-woodburn-and-andrew-soliz/

Earlier in our forum discussion here a follower wrote: "From my perspective, what initially seems like harm often later turns into miraculous healing.". This is an ongoing theme of Andrew's. Suffering and hurting = good. In recent interview Andrew stated that when artists donate items to help raise money for a beneficial fund, it would be be far superior for them to "hurt" when they do so, to donate items that they don't want to.

Frauds promoting themselves as special/spiritual/indigenous who teach followers that harm and hurt are actually to be sought. Yucky and potentially dangerous.

No matter what Andrew David Soliz and Carrie Rae Woodburn say or imply - those leather bags have no powers. They are not sacred.

Obit for Carrie Rae Woodburn's father: https://www.selandsfuneralhome.com/obituaries/richard-engh One of his daughters listed is "Carrie (Andrew Soliz) Woodburn, of Laguna Beach, Ca".

In Carrie's mother obit she is "Carrie (Andrew) Woodburn of Laguna Beach, CA".

I believe Carrie has inherited and earned money that enabled her to buy expensive property.

I don't know as much about Andrew David Soliz yet.

People search also lists "Solis" as a possible aka for Andrew. I wonder if "Solis" is actually his birth surname. His son is named "David Solis". In interview Andrew says that his son David is his shop manager. David Solis refers to Andrew as his father in social media.

Carrie Rae Woodburn's parents are Richard Milnor Engh and Audrey LaVonne Hink.

Full obits here:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/244945256/richard_m_engh
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/245013704/audrey_lavonne_engh

Genealogy can be found via these memorials. Engh ancestors are Norwegian, Hink are German.

Skimming through what is posted on extended family, I don't see anything to back up Woodburn's claims.

Carrie Rae Woodburn’s fascination with leather art started while spending time with her husband—Andrew Soliz, who owns Tatankamani Woodworks here in town—on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. According to Woodburn, she was heavily influenced by her time there, and her husband taught her the ways of Native American leathermaking before she branched out further in the medium. “I often hear the beat of the drum while remembering songs of ceremony in my heart as I work,” Woodburn notes.

2023 podcast interview https://www.voiceoflaguna.com/podcasts/artists-corner/episode/carrie-rae-woodburn-and-andrew-soliz/

Soliz says he had a grandmother who was a "medicine woman".

I listened to the interviews - their rhetoric is classic new age. Also talk of making medicine bags for ceremonies.

Carrie Rae Woodburn's use of "Her artistic themes are rooted in Native American Tradition" might be tailored purposefully as "qualified labeling"

Quote
Qualified Labeling of Indian Style Art and Craft Products

Indian style art and craft products made by non-Indians may be offered or displayed for sale, or sold, as “Native American style,” “Native American inspired,” or in a similar qualified manner intended to avoid consumer confusion.

Although in my opinion she is not qualifying enough.

Andrew Soliz and Carrie Rae Woodburn both look to be falsely suggesting that their art "is Indian produced, an Indian product".
