Native Borne Clothing
« on: May 25, 2015, 04:56:36 am »
I came across this company the other day. They are probably not in violation of any laws, but they are damn sure guilty of culture appropriation. If any reader here gets a chance, contact this company, or post on their Facebook wall, and let them know that this is not acceptable.

Some info I have found

The company trademarked the name in 2013

Quote
On Wednesday, December 25, 2013, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for NATIVE BORNE by CAT3, LLC, New York, NY 10018. The USPTO has given the NATIVE BORNE trademark serial number of 86152313. The current federal status of this trademark filing is NOTICE OF ALLOWANCE - ISSUED. The correspondent listed for NATIVE BORNE is GREGG DONNENFELD of 501 10TH AVE FL 7, NEW YORK, NY 10018-1117, . The NATIVE BORNE trademark is filed in the category of Clothing Products . The description provided to the USPTO for NATIVE BORNE is Clothing, namely, shirts, sweatshirts, pants, jeans, shorts, socks, belts, sleepwear, underwear, swimwear, jackets and coats; headwear.

What is interesting is a search on CAT3 LLC shows they have applied for approximately seventy five trademarks (some tracking sites indicate more), some of which have the name Stolin or Stolen, which in the context of the clothing sold by Native Borne seems appropos. The majority of the trademarks are for clothing and/or accessories companies.

Gregg Donnenfeld, trademark attorney, is listed with approximately one hundred seventeen records.

The address for CAT3 LLC is the same as the attorney's.

The imagery literally looks like cheap copies of the alternate logo proposed for the Chicago Blackhawks. Talk about a double rip off.
I came here for the popcorn and stayed for the slaying of pretenders.
