I just searched Jyoti and the 13 grandmothers, and all that came up was this thread. Can you give me a link or anything?

If you did the search from here, you don't get much. But from the main screen you get more. Here are a few links to start you on:

Quotes from:

Sheriff's deputies make unusual drug bust
The Daily World - Opelousas, La.
Author:    Alain A de la Villesbret
Date:    Feb 20, 2005

Quote
Zachary said two California people were transporting the drugs from California to Florida when they were caught in the parish.

St. Landry Parish Interstate Criminal Enforcement Unit deputies arrested the two after a routine traffic stop on U.S. Route 190 between Port Barre and Krotz Springs. They pulled over the couple's red, two-door, 1986 Mazda because of an obstructed view caused by piles of clothing in the back seat of the car.

Upon investigation, the couple began to act suspicious and the ICE team deployed their canine unit.

"Their stories did not add up. Deputies then noticed a small amount of a substance suspected to be marijuana in easy view, so the canine unit assisted. The dog alerted on the vehicle," Zachary said. "When deputies searched the vehicle, they discovered 10 ounces of marijuana and 37 liters of DMT under clothes in the back seat. The DMT was in five sealed plastic bags, like the milk bags they have at the schools, but larger."

Arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute Schedule I hallucinogens and possession of drug paraphernalia were Hugo Arana, 46, 11437 Lakeview St., Felton, Calif., and Luzia Krull, 51, 1065 Westridge St., Portola Valley, Calif. Arana also was charged with driving with an obstructed view. Both are in parish jail. Bond has been set at $41,000 each.

Even authorities elsewhere who are familiar with DMT said that they'd never seen this type of quantity before.

Quote
Zachary said the drug is transported and distributed in liquid form, then dried to a crystal and smoked in a pipe. He estimated the street value of the DMT to be $497,250, figured on 1,105 grams when dried and a price of $450 per gram.

So Luzia Krull & Hugh Arana were transporting a huge amount of the Schedule 1 narcotic Dimethyltryptamine across country. Liquid form, intended for drying to crystalline and smoking.

Luzia  Krull speaks reverently of Santo Daime, a tea mixture which is prepared a very specific way, over time and with rituals, from natural traditional plants. But at the same time she was transporting liquid DMT cross country, this makes me wonder what she was really dosing people with. Why was she transporting DMT? Transporting illegal drugs like that seems more mercenary and all about profit as opposed to engaging in traditional medicine and ceremony.

Given Krull's involvement with the Santo Daime, perhaps transporting DMT makes more sense than may meet the eye. The concoction called Ayahuasca is usually brewed from the Ayahuasca vine with other plants added, usually a plant called Chacruna. Chacruna contains DMT; please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychotria_viridis . As far as I understood, it is the Chacruna ingredient which turns the Ayahuasca drink hallucinogenic, and also contributes to make the 'high' last considerably longer than from Ayahuasca on its own (as in several hours as compared to a few minutes).

Santo Daime also is less traditional than a rather recent and syncretic new religious movement:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santo_Daime

Quote
Santo Daime is a syncretic spiritual practice founded in the 1930s in the Brazilian Amazonian state of Acre by Raimundo Irineu Serra,[1] known as Mestre Irineu. Santo Daime is syncretic in that it incorporates elements of several religious or spiritual traditions including Folk Catholicism, Kardecist Spiritism, African animism and indigenous South American shamanism, including vegetalismo. [...]

Ayahuasca, consumed by Daimistas in ceremonies, has many different traditional names, but is known within the Santo Daime as Santo Daime, meaning Holy Daime, or simply, Daime, as originally named by Irineu. Dai-me means "give me" in Portuguese. A phrase "Daime força, daime amor" (give me strength, give me love), recurs in the doctrine's hymns.

Currently there is a legal process for the tea:

Quote
The church’s supply of ayahuasca continues to arrive about twice a month in liquid form. The tea, brewed in the Brazilian rain forest, is still brought to Portland by representatives from its sister church in Ashland, and is kept in a padlocked metal box inside a climate-controlled storage unit at Portland Wine Storage on Southeast Ash Street.

http://wweek.com/portland/article-17017-children_of_a_higher_god.html

2005 (when Krull transported liquid DMT, not tea) was prior to court decisions http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/ayahuasca/ayahuasca_law24.shtml - maybe use of liquid DMT was the norm back then. Sounds like Krull has her own church, wonder how she acquires or makes her own Daime tea.

Anyone know what this means? "I am authorized by the State of California to conduct social ceremonies." http://www.danadanadana.com/danae//luzia/shamanic.html

(Update: that last link no longer works, to access the quote go to http://www.psycho-spiritualintegration.com/
and then to Shamanic Practices)

I went with her to the post office where she picked up Santo Daime at one point. The more I reflect on my experiences with her, the more angry I am. Luzia basically tried to shove it down my throat that she was my elder, my guru, my therapist, my shaman and my spiritual mother all in one package. She knew that God had sent me to her, and she used all sorts of verbal manipulation and circular reasoning to defend this nonsense. At one point we even did some sort of ritual to consult the spirits, which I wasn't a particular believer in. But during the ritual a spirit told me that I was supposed to have gone elsewhere to pursue the awakening that I am going through. When I told this to Luzia (repeatedly, she wanted to ignore it the first few times), she used all sorts of games to try and get out of what was implied. One time she said "I thought we both agreed the spirits brought you to me and the Daime." I had never agreed to any such thing. She tried to say that I had not honestly talked to a spirit, that the spirit was lying to me, that I didn't understand what part of space time it was referring to (she seriously said that). Luzia behaved in a way somewhat similar to a cult leader. My only comfort is that I got out without any serious drama, and she doesn't seem to be all that successful at her manipulative behavior.

Sometimes healing from this kind of abuse involves anger. I won't tell you how to deal with it, that would be something someone you know and respect may be able to help you with. However, channeling some of the anger towards exposing this fraud and abuser is a good thing. She needs to be stopped.

Sounds great! I've been trying to tell myself that the fact that I got out without getting sucked in further should be enough, but the truth is I do wanna make sure that other people do not fall victim to her bulshit. Forget shamanism and such, the way she dumped on me in a boundary dissolved state, the woman should not even be allowed to call herself a therapist. What resources are there outside of this site to expose people like this?

There is an active message board http://forum.rickross.com/ on http://www.rickross.com/ which is  "An Internet archive of information about cults, destructive cults, controversial groups and movements." Lots of good info on the site including Warning Signs http://www.rickross.com/warningsigns.html, and info on abusive and controlling relationships ( not just large groups).

You could look into the local alternative press, especially for investigative journalists, then see if anyone is interested in the story.

Luzia Krull's site is now at http://www.psycho-spiritualintegration.com/

Under Shamanic Practices is:

Quote
I am authorized by the State of California to conduct social ceremonies.

If by "social ceremonies" she includes marriages, this statement is misleading. As a minister "ordained or invested by a denomination" she can do marriages in California. There is no registration, no filing of credentials with clerk, no central registry of members of clergy.  The state does not verify credentials.

So, technically, yeah, she is authorized to do marriages in California. As can any other minister/clergy etc. of a denomination. But this isn't a special thing, she was not examined by the State of California and then authorized to conduct social ceremonies. She just happens to fit the requirements.

"I am authorized by the State of California to conduct social ceremonies." sounds more elite and special than "Under California law, I along with other ministers of denominations, can conduct marriage ceremonies".

Eh, it was a learning experience.
I read a great book called The Guru Papers: Masks of Authoritarian Power, which helped me come to terms with some of the underlying psychological dynamics that were going on. Feeling much more at peace with the whole thing. Later this month I am off to see my real teacher.
I remember one time, I talked about an area of tension that wouldn't go away with Luzia, and she said that we should put a crystal on it. That should have been a wake up call. I don't think quartz crystals are actually a part of any real spirituality, Native American or otherwise. It's distinctly a California New Agey thing. That's basically what she was doing. Take a mish mash of New Agey stuff, throw in hallucinogens, a little actual red blood, and a fake red accent, and tell any idiot who happens to be around that they were sent to Luzia by God.
In the future, I have resolved to not be that idiot.

It is hard to imagine people saying the things they have regarding Luzia.  I have been seeing Luzia
for about 6 years and only have the highest regard for her.  If her style, her words, her reverance
to Santé Diane turn you off, then leave it at that.  No character attacks.  She has spent the better
part of her life devoted to helping people understand themselves better.  She has a source, which
she pulls from but it is all very authentic.  Perhaps some folks just aren't prepared for what she has
to offer.

Karen, what does this mean? "She has a source, which she pulls from but it is all very authentic."
