Shaman kills woman during treatment

SURKHET: A woman who had been taken for treatment to a local shaman died after she was repeatedly slapped on the face with a red-hot rice-spoon.

Degashara Rana, a resident of Babiyachaur in the west of Surkhet was taken to shaman Jagat Thapa after she fell sick all of a sudden on Saturday.

In course of the treatment the priest-doctor used a heated rice-spoon on both her cheeks, leaving her seriously injured.

Rana was rushed for treatment towards Birendranagar, but she succumbed to her injuries on the way, the District Police Office said.

The shaman has been taken into police custody for necessary action.
