Title: Native American Church of Turtle Island
Post by: educatedindian on April 14, 2026, 12:58:14 AM
Surprised we do not have a thread on them, only on their association with TITN.

Everyone reading, esp non Natives, be aware they are not the actual NAC. One of the complaints which drove them away from TITN, themselves militia nuts, was they were trying to hustle every member for money. 100 ID cards. Cards which are actually useless. They do not give legal protection to peyote users, and most members are non Native or those with dubious or distant claims of descent.

You can find the genuine NAC statement on groups like NACTI here:

Their chapters seem to be a few people or even single members. Notice where they are, far from rezzes or large urban NDN populations.

Arrest showing the card does zero to protect members from legal charges.

On Sept. 24, Deputy Cory Mister of the Calvert sheriff's office was conducting radar traffic checks on Route 2/4 in the Prince Frederick area and observed a white pickup truck with Virginia tags without a rear registration plate illumination. Mister attempted to stop the truck, which proceeded onto Sixes Road, where it later stopped in the area of Grist Mill Road.

The deputy asked the vehicle's driver to show his driver's license. The driver, who was subsequently identified as Tehron Renelius George, 46, of Brandywine, said he had paperwork that allowed him to drive. He produced a membership identification card with "Native American Church of Turtle Island."

A search of the truck yielded a backpack, which contained suspected psilocybin mushrooms inside two glass smoking devices.

George was charged with drug possession and possession of an inhalant for distribution plus cited for driving without a license, driving while unregistered, driving with expired registration plates and driving while uninsured.

On Sept. 25, George posted $10,000 bond and was released. A district court hearing on the charges is scheduled for Nov. 18.
