The catcher in the rye, sort of
« on: August 17, 2011, 05:43:46 pm »
Well, I've been around here for some time now but I never introduced
myself, so here is my story:

I was born in Germany, but live in Anaheim, CA and work at the UCLA - so
I'm a scientist. I know next to nothing about indigenous cultures and
problems, except for little tidbits I picked up here. For some reason (more
about that in a second) I came here and now I am responsible for the technical
aspects of this site. So if you have any technical problems, PM me or mail me
at support at newagefraud dot org, I'll try to help.

Now how the heck did I come here? You may not have noticed, but NAFPS is now
being hosted by esowatch.com , an international community which I am part
of exposing quackery and frauds. Some members of NAFPS came there, we
talked and found out we get along well. Esowatch has some experience
with hosting controversial content, so we were able to help - and we did.

Let me give you a glimpse of what esowatch is about: One of our first
topics, and still an important one, is 'Germanic New Medicine', GNM:

In short, it is a cancer quackery organized like a cult which has claimed
at least 140 victims, so far - worldwide. In the US, it is spread e.g. by
Joseph Mercola:

I hope this little example shows that quackery is an international business,
therefore we need to cooperate internationally to combat it. This is not a
singular case, similar issues exist with several other quacks; the late Hulda
Clark comes to mind.

Esowatch is not limited to quackery:

This is a hot topic currently. If you care to read the article, there is a
multitude of checkable facts. This is because it was written by physicists who
know what they are talking about. In general, all our articles are written by
or with the help of experts:

Guess where the experts on this topic came from ... We very much appreciate this

Esowatch is not only a set of wikis in several languages, but also a
blog (mostly in German, but also some English articles) and an international
forum. If you discover a quackery or a fraud or are uncertain if
something/someone is a fraud, you can register there:
http://forum.esowatch.com
and ask, or you can just mail them at info at esowatch dot com and ask.
They are a helpful bunch and will reply. You can also ask for a login to the
wiki, of course - then you may post articles yourself.
