Arkansas Here!

My name is Tom Cloud, which is not derived from any native source. Family tale is that it is Irish, but my genealogy research shows a strong possibility it was an assumed name of an ancestor fleeing crimes.

Be that as it may, I love to study and learn and am very glad to have found this site. In the '90's I immersed my Self in the New Age for most of the decade and have met many people listed on this site as frauds and scamsters. Yes, that is when my 'handle' of inea1111 was born.

I give things time to prove themselves, and my time among the 'teachers and healers' of the '90's proved most of it just false to anyone who uses their own mind or expects logic and consistency. I did plainly see many who were in it for profit, more than a few, and also more than a few who are as self-deluded as their followers.

BUT, what can we expect from a society that breast feeds kids Santa and the Easter Bunny and all the very unfounded claims of world religions? Of course we will be deluded and shammed and scammed. It's all there in the conditioning. Few find their way out of that labyrinth.

Again, I applaud everyone who participates on this site and pulls back the curtain to expose the Wizard as just a man.

This happened to me about 20 years earlier. I stumbled into New Age among hippies in New Orleans LA in 1968, and kept up a fascination and even small-scale participation for the next two decades or more. But I grew more and more skeptical, and by the time I got an Internet connection (1995) it gradually became so much easier to verify (or in most cases: falsify) New Age claims.

I appreciate your posts in the forum so far, and I look forward to more. I have commented in two of these threads already, and I am gathering material to comment on "A Course in Miracles". I have seen this cult-like phenomenon spread across Scandinavia, too. I did not know anything about the background information you report in that topic, and will check closely.
