Does anybody claim him?

Seems to go by Mel, but so many sites have him listed as Male.

Apparently he claims to be Beaver Creek Tribe, who say they are Pee Dee descendants. We have a thread on them. So far I haven't found his birth or legal name.

Mel doesn't help their case at all. He looks and acts like an ancient very white hippie dressed like Tribe Woodstock. On the surface his big message is standard environmentalism mixed with "smoking weed will save us all" High Times silliness.

The bigger concern is his training and being a follower of one of the worst frauds and abusers out there, the late Robert Franzone AKA Robert Ghostwolf.

His name is Mel Minitor Jr. He identifies as this in his preface to book "A Life Most Magical" and in some Facebook posts.
Copyright notice for book is "Mel Standing Eagle PC - Mel Minitor".

In his book he writes that his father's heritage is German and Irish. Mother's a "mix of English and Native American".

September 27, 2014: Rev. Dr. Melvin M. Minitor, Sr. Warrenville, SC Rev. Dr. Melvin M. Minitor, Sr, 86, entered into rest on Saturday, September 27th, 2014. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a longtime resident of the CSRA. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Chaplain. Rev. Minitor was the founder of Calvary Road Ministries, started several churches in the area and was a member of Victory Baptist Church, North Augusta, SC. He retired from the Vaucluse Division of Graniteville Company as General Night Overseer. Family members include his children, Melvin M. (Alice) Minitor, Jr, Warrenville, SC, David Minitor, Burnettown, SC, Sarah (Richard) Partin, Decatur, AL and Ruth (Richard) Moneypenny, Grovetown, GA; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 2nd, 2014, at 2 oclock at Victory Baptist Church, North Augusta, SC, with Rev. Marion Malcolm, Dr. R. Larry Brown and Chaplain Bolin officiating. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery, Langley, SC. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Ministerial Fund at Victory Baptist College. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 12:30 until the time of service at the church.

This is the side our Mel claims heritage. "Our heritage being of Creek/PeeDee, who intermarried with Powhatan and trace back to Chief Japasaw. If our family historian is correct, we would be the 12th great-grandchildren of Chief Japasaw."

"My grandparents were dark skinned", Mel says he asked them about Native American heritage, and that they replied "we don't talk about that".

These families all white in vital records. Obits of his parents do not mention anything native/tribal involvement.
