A lot of what Gillum and her group are saying is also discussed in threads we have on related groups:

Discussion of Gillum's claim that Africans are the real NDNs, and that NDNs are actually "Chinese" (or something) and "perpetrating" on the lands in the US: http://www.newagefraud.org/smf/index.php?topic=590.0

Compare Gillum's statements with the platforms and writings of these groups:

Yamassee "tribe" in trouble with IRS  http://www.newagefraud.org/smf/index.php?topic=590.0
Searching the forum will bring up many threads on the Nuwaubians. Here are two:

This explains so much! Thank you for making this connection clear.

Looks like Gillum is following the playbook of Empress Verdiacee "Tiari" Washitaw-Turner Goston El-Bey http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/1999/spring/born-on-the-bayou?page=0,0 and related groups.

Interesting bit here said by Ms. Gillum /Chief Warhorse, early in video about 0:10 mark paraphrased:

"Another thing I'm fighting for is that we as a nation have a place of governing that is represented and recognized by the United States goverment.

They say well that's federal recognition.

And I say no that's not. That is a god given right A god given right."

Gillum and group refer to the "Jim Ducre clan" often as a claim to NDN heritage. Gillum also says that they don't have any French heritage. http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.ducre/39/mb.ashx

It is possible to piece together the genealogy of the man they are referring to. There is French heritage from the 1700s. That heritage was even discussed in a 1938 Louisiana court case Sunseri v. Cassagne- the case is directly related to this Ducre family lineage.

Gillum makes quite a few genealogy claims that can sound legit but with some research are found to not hold up at all. I think she has an audience who wants to be NDN and so they buy what she tells them.

As for her historical claims of being a tribe, some of what she says sounds like it is her own spin on http://www.unitedhoumanation.org/node/12

This combined with what Kathryn identified earlier in this thread as related groups who claim Africans were the real NDNs - hopefully will help people think twice before joining Gillum's group. Or giving them money. Or buying everything they say without doing any research.
