This is an associate of Erick Gonzalez. Found her actual name on the domain registration.
http://whois.domaintools.com/huaanwa.com

She claims to be Metis, Cherokee, and Maya, and an "adopted Chumash elder." ::)
Since when did Chumash or Maya start dressing like middle aged goth wannabes?

Is the owl a symbol of bad luck for Mayas, Cherokee, and Chumash the way it is for most southwestern NDNs?

Sells Nuage ceremonies that are nothing remotely close to any of these beliefs.

Blessing Way is Navajo. Except for sweats, nothing else remotely NDN, all Nuage or Euro pagan, or cmmon to all cultures like weddings, though I'd bet she does a hokey version of faux NDN weddings.
Sad thing is, she's been leading a group of white wannabes at these faux feminist gatherings for over 20 years in central CA.

The only good news is I don't see any sign of the worser abuses, sexual or cult like control.

Watched the video interview http://www.huaanwa.com/ "Hua interviewed by Earth Medicine Alliance" - my impression is that she's been challenged on what she is doing before, she seems somewhat defensive as she speaks about being "metis". She defines metis as "everyone's blood is red". She also says "We're all mixed". This seems to be her reasoning and excuse - since everyone is connected to the earth, we all then have permission to make use of "all the modalities".

Right, like the frauds saying, "We're all connected to the Earth so we're all Indigenous. Therefore, I can steal your ceremonies, 'cause it's all the same thing."

As she said toward the end of the video, Kathryn, "That's my story and I'm sticking to it!"  ;D ;D

She was born Rosa Marie Jackson, 1955, Fresno California. Her mother's maiden name is Garcia.

Her full birth date can be found in public records under Rosa M Mayo, Arroyo Grande, CA. Her daughter's name is found on their public Facebook pages. Her daughter's basic birth record info is available through the public California birth index, mother's birth surname is Jackson. The Jackson - Mayo marriage is in public records, as is Rosa Marie Jackson's birth info. That birth info matches the birth date listed for Rosa M Mayo.

I don't know the full name of her parents, but this gives a good start for anyone researching her heritage.

Wonder how long she has claimed to be Maya, if that was a 2012 thing, or if Erick Gonzalez is telling people he is making them Maya.

Her Church of Empowerment info:

What is a 'Long Dance'?

The term Long Dance means just that: a long dance lasting from sunset to sunrise.  It is a traditional Native American ceremony practiced for millennia by indigenous peoples in the Americas.  Many cultures around the world celebrate in a sacred way by holding a special annual ceremony that honors the Earth Mother, the living systems of Nature and the wonders of being a spiritual being on a human journey.

Our annual Long Dance is now in its 24th year!  It is danced by women only, although men do stand in support as members of the Thunder Lodge, our brothers who honor us by holding our sacred space and safeguarding our journey.  We are deeply grateful for the Thunder Lodge's support of our spiritual work and have expanded ceremonial opportunities for them with a Brothers-only Sweat Lodge, and a shared Pipe Ceremony and spiritual teachings.

Quote
The intention of this Long Dance is to gather within our gender, to reconnect with our Earth Mother, to support the healing of wounds, to provide the chance to undertake a re-dreaming of one's life, to celebrate our warrior/wild woman/Artemis aspect, and to have permission to be fierce in our personal process.  It is a transformational event for everyone who comes.

Hua has been pouring water for nearly 30 years.  She is fully qualified to lead a safe, beautiful sweat and she creates a dynamic space of sacred prayer and transformation with her seasoned, experienced insight into the mysteries and wonders of the Sweat Lodge ceremony.

Soul Retrieval

$200 contribution

Quote
Soul retrieval is a shamanic practice, part of a long standing ancient shamanic tradition of journeying to dimensional worlds beyond the ordinary plane of material reality in order to gain new insights about what is happening in the here and now. Soul retrieval honors the knowing that illness and diseases can start in non-physical worlds, and have their root in non-physical causes beyond the reach of ordinary medical practices.

My particular soul retrieval practice is informed by many previous lifetimes as a healer, as well as decades of deep experience in this one as a certified massage therapist and spiritual counselor. During the soul retrieval, I journey to various spiritual dimensions and, with the guidance of my spirit helpers and guides, bring back some of the broken soul pieces which have gone missing from the seeker's spirit and psyche.

The process can be intense and rewarding, and I have seen many people gain great benefit from receiving back these missing pieces. 'Soul loss' is a significant issue in our modern world and soul retrieval is one of the major antidotes to that debilitating problem.

"Soul retrieval" is part of  core shamanism by Michael Harner:

Quote
Dr. Harner learned how to do soul retrieval in 1961 while living among the Amazonian Conibo and brought it to the West.

Quote
Michael began training students in soul retrieval at least as early as June 25 - 27, 1982, as part of an Intermediate Workshop (no longer existing under that name) inside a cave in Grottoes, Virginia.

Though Hua wouldn't have had to take any workshops, she could have just used his book The Way of the Shaman.
