BURLEY — An Ada County man convicted of threatening a Cassia County magistrate judge was sentenced Friday to 30 days in jail.
When 5th District Gooding County Magistrate Judge Casey Robinson told Milton Esquibel to report to jail immediately after the Friday hearing, Esquibel said he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and could not be incarcerated.
“I was abducted and put in a box when I was 14 years old,” said Esquibel.
Robinson gave Esquibel three weeks to file a copy of his medical records with the court to support his claim or report to jail on May 7.
Esquibel, 47, was charged in August with misdemeanor contempt of court, disturbing the peace, resisting or obstructing officers and making threats against a state elected official after an incident in a Cassia County courtroom during his parents’ divorce hearing. He was convicted March 16 by a jury.
