Title: "Goddess" temples busted in prostitution sting - many arrests & charges
Post by: nemesis on September 09, 2011, 02:26:38 pm
The Sedona Temple, fronted by Baba Dez Nichols, has been raided and closed by cops as has the Phoenix Goddess Temple.

Sedona Temple closed as brothel

SEDONA -- The Phoenix Police Department has been conducting a lengthy investigation into the activities at the Phoenix Goddess Temple in Phoenix. During their investigation it was discovered that some of the individuals suspected of criminal activity in the Phoenix Temple were also traveling to and from locations in Sedona.

On Wednesday, three search warrants were served at West Sedona addresses at the same time Phoenix PD was executing a search warrant at the Phoenix Goddess Temple. The three Sedona locations were the Sedona Temple at 2945 Southwest Drive, the Sedona Temple Parsonage at 185 Roadrunner Drive and a residence at 395 Inspirational Drive.

Among individuals arrested in Sedona was Goddess Temple founder Tracy Elise, 50, who was involved in a similar suspected brothel in Seattle, shut down by law enforcement in 2009. She was arrested in Sedona based on a Maricopa County Grand Jury warrant. Elise faces charges of prostitution, illegal control of a criminal enterprise, pandering and operating a house of prostitution.

Also arrested in Sedona were Tamara Brusso, 53, and Niki Faldemolaei, 51. Brusso was arrested based on a Grand Jury warrant from Maricopa County, and Faldemolaei was arrested on charges of participating in a criminal syndicate, keeping a house of prostitution, receiving earnings of prostitution, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sedona Police Commander Marlayne Hatler says, the investigation involving Phoenix undercover officers and Sedona PD surveillance has been ongoing and more arrests are expected to be made. The Maricopa County indictment listed 33 names.

The Phoenix police investigation began in early August. Once it became apparent that Phoenix Temple also has operations in Sedona, it became a joint investigation.

The Phoenix Temple began in the Phoenix jurisdiction and moved to Scottsdale, but ran afoul of zoning violations there and returned to Phoenix.

An explicit review of the Phoenix Temple in the Phoenix New Times caused police to investigate further.

Police Reveal More Details of "Operation Goddess Temple"; More Prostitution Indictments to Come
By Niki D'Andrea Thu., Sep. 8 2011 at 3:02 PM
Categories: News

Eighteen people were arrested yesterday after police raided two so-called Arizona "temples" on suspicion of prostitution, and there will be more arrests and indictments coming, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Police revealed some details of their investigation, dubbed "Operation Goddess Temple," at a press conference at Phoenix Police Headquarters today.

The Phoenix police vice unit and police in Yavapai County have been conducting undercover investigations for the past six months at the Sedona Temple in Sedona and the Phoenix Goddess Temple at 24th Street and Thomas Road (we detailed some of the latter temple's "sessions" in February, in the New Times cover story, "Sexual Healing.")

Practitioners at Phoenix Goddess Temple have said their "sessions" (which can include "prostate massage," among other things) are for spiritual healing and part of their religious freedom.

At the press conference today, Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery, who will assist in prosecuting the suspects, made it clear the authorities see the temple's practices quite differently.

"This was no more a church than Cuba was fantasy island," Montgomery said.

There is also an important news story from Feb 2001 describing some of the "sexual healing" on offer at the "Goddess Temple".  It is a few pages long so I'll just link to it but it is definitely worth a read, up there with the "Sacred Orgasm" expose of Harley Reagan in the New Phoenix Times, funny, very well written and yet fairly disturbing to read.  There are no explicit images but the text is very explicit.

Phoenix Goddess Temple's "Sacred Sexuality" Is More Like New Age Prostitution
By Niki D'Andrea Thursday, Feb 17 2011
Quote
On a brisk Sunday morning in mid-January, Wayne Clayton arrives at work at Phoenix Goddess Temple wheeling a brown piece of luggage.

"These are all my healing tools," he says.

Among them are a clear plastic bag stuffed with white latex gloves and a bottle of lubricant. He will use them later in one of his "trauma healing" sessions. But first, he'll receive his own session with a temple "goddess" who calls herself Aphrodite. Clayton says it's common for practitioners at Phoenix Goddess Temple to do sessions for each other. It helps "recharge energy" and maintains an all-important balance.

Practitioners at this self-styled church near 24th Street and Thomas Road say that what they do is sacred work to balance energy and heal people, and Clayton really seems to believe it — at least enough to let New Times watch two of his all-too-revealing sessions.

Clayton's title is "touch healer." He's in his 50s, about 5-foot-8, heavyset, with glasses and salt-and-pepper hair. Aphrodite is one of about 14 women who work at the temple. Like the majority of the goddesses, she appears to be in her late 30s to early 40s. She's tan, blond, and blue-eyed, with faint crow's feet in the corners of her eyes. She says she conducts up to three sessions per day.

Just what is a "session," you ask? Step into the "Persian Room" with Aphrodite and Clayton.

I believe Baba Dez is here in the UK at the moment.  His associate Niki Faldemolaei has been charged with a range of offenses.  I imagine Baba Dez will be charged when he returns to the US.  Baba Dez interests me because of his links to the tantric THB networks MISA and Ashram Shambala / Universynergy Arts.

Church was front for a house of prostitution, police say

One by one, members of the Phoenix Goddess Temple were led away in handcuffs Wednesday as Phoenix police raided its building.

During a news conference Thursday, Phoenix police said the church was really a house of prostitution.

"Instead of johns, they were called seekers. Instead of sexual intercourse it was called sacred union," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos. "The women were not called prostitutes, they were called goddesses."

Just sharing a few thoughts...

Personally I do not believe that the law should be concerned with what consenting adults get up to sexually.

My concerns about the Phoenix Goddess Temple and the Sedona Temple are that they are part of a movement that seeks to legitimise various types of "body psychotherapies" that are unconventional to say the least.

The people who call themselves sacred sexual healers, intimacy coaches, Dakas, Dakinis, Shaktis, Goddesses, tantric healers, sexual shamans, Taoist Masters (the list of euphemisms is endless) claim to be able to treat a range of problems, from psycho-sexual problems to PTSD and serious illnesses including cancer.

The methods used by "sacred sexual healers"  may involve intimate massage, the acting out of traumatic events in role plays, spanking, whipping, meditation, guided fantasies and various sexual acts.

I just think it is very worrying to think that vulnerable, depressed people with terminal illnesses or PTSD could end up being exploited by predators.

One of the people arrested in the raids is Wayne Clayton who amongst other things, has skills in anal and vaginal reflexology.  Okaaay

Well Mr Clayton claims that his healing powers caused a woman's breast to grow back after a mastectomy.

If people were running a brothel quietly and discretely and were all consenting adults acting with no coercion then I wouldn't feel that it was my right to have an opinion on it.

The claims to treat and cure serious illnesses and emotional traumas and mental illnesses are very worrying and the methods used are potentially traumatising and damaging to people on the receiving end of them.

Re James Flaming Eagle Mooney

There is a very interesting video of him here. I would very much appreciate the thoughts of native people on the claims he is making.

Just a clarification here. The other problem with the con artists, pimps and prostituted people using some of these terms is that it is cultural misappropriation of the basest kind. Some of these titles are legitimate roles in religions that have nothing to do with sex with strangers, sex trafficking or exploitation. Just like the frauds, exploiters and predators who call themselves by stolen NDN names, these appropriators are harming the people of the cultures they steal from, and they are harming the cultures themselves. I cringe at the idea that someone involved in a legitimate Hindu or Taoist religion would have someone who's only seen the frauds use these titles see that person as tainted, simply due to this stolen terminology... That a member of an Eastern religion would simply talk about their religion and have people mistakenly believe they are some kind of pervert, pimp, or advocate of people being trafficked into sexual slavery.

What these human trafficking groups do with the stolen mystique of cultures they find "exotic" is profoundly racist. Why not Catholic butt massage? How about communion wine transpersonal ritual with sex on the altar at a fake Pentacostal church? They could even throw in snake handling and speaking in tongues. But no, they always have to use people's ignorance and romanticization of those "exotic, dark" people, who of course must have all kinds of kinky secrets that the outsiders can buy into. The fact that they are crossing that appropriative urge we see from the pay-to-pray consumers with sexual slavery and sexual exploitation is particularly horrifying.

Maybe their attempts to mask the human trafficking in a facade of spirituality, "empowerment" and "healing" makes some of the johns feel less guilty about taking pleasure in a prostituted woman's pain.

Even worse, it seems like these groups brainwash the prostituted women into believing the pain is pleasure and "empowerment". This "exotic, spiritual, healing" trend among sex traffickers is so deeply disturbing, on so many levels.

Ah, I stand corrected on the topic of exploiting Christianity:

http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2011-02-17/news/feature/2/
Quote
There are two floors and eight rooms called "transformation chambers," each decorated in a different theme, including the "Judeo-Christian room" (all white with paintings of Jesus), the "Egyptian room" (black and gold), and a blue "water chamber" featuring a big bathtub. Every room includes a massage table (which they call an "altar of light"), as well as a bed (called the "grand altar").

Though, "Judeo-Christian" with pictures of Jesus is pretty vague. Then again, their whole pseudo-religious front is purposely vague. Wonder what the saner Christians think of butt massage with Jesus.

I share your concerns about racism cultural appropriation.

In this case things are much worse once you dig a little deeper.

I found a pagan blog that covered the news story of the brothel raid.

There is a lot of interesting information in the responses posted, some supporting the "temple" and some critical of it.

One guest, apparently having some inside information posted the following:
Quote
Guest
Yep. In addition to Phoenix Goddess Temple, they also raided Sedona Temple owned by an unrelated guy named Nichols. They also raided the parsonage of the Sedona church as well a private home belonging to a Sedona Pagan.
Now, here is where things get even more interesting.
aWhen police (apparently withouny real probable cause) raided the Sedona Temple, what they found inside what the media is calling a “Pagan Brothel” or “sex church” were a group of Native Americans performing a traditional ceremony for a Swedish film crew!
In media interviews this morning you can find on Google news, arrested “practitioners” claim that they were not engaging in prostitution nor any legal activity, but this this is about the freedom of sexual expression as part of their religious beliefs. One female practitioner added that she practices “Earth based religion.”
The new witch hunt is on, it seems. Is YOUR church ATF approved?
source (scroll down to about 3/4 way down the page)
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/wildhunt/2011/09/phoenix-goddess-temple-raided-by-police.html

This person is clearly either ignorant of, or lying about the fact that the Phoenix Goddess Temple and the Sedona Temple are related.  They are and this is why the cops raided both "temples".

Obviously I was wondering who these "Native Americans" are who were at the Sedona temple with a film crew.

Then I discovered an interesting snippet (if true) on the tantranews.com website
Unsurprisingly for a newage site called tantranews they defend the "temple" however they have some interesting info re Mooney (emphasis mine)

Quote
Fortunately, the Goddess Temple holds legal status as a church. They will likely mount a defense based on religious freedom, which seems appropriate as in essence this is the state attempting to legislate one morality over another morality. And freedom of religion has trumped the law before - for example, there are Native American tribes that are legally protected in their religious use of peyote, an otherwise illegal substance. In fact, James "Flaming Eagle" Mooney from the Oklevueha Native American Church, which is allowed to use peyote as a sacrament, has recently blessed the Phoenix Goddess Temple as a member church, giving its members the right to use Church sacrament such as Peyote, Marijuana, Mushrooms, and Ayahuasca. Not only that, he bailed all of them out of jail as well!

Then I found this on the website of the International School for Temple Arts (ISTA - a subsidiary of the Sedona Temple that was raided by cops)

so not only does the Sedona Temple not bother to check on the credentials of their "native American" friends but the Sedona temple co-hosted, organised and advertised a grooming and recruitment event on behalf of a huge internationally active network of pimps and people traffickers who disguise themselves as Siberian Shamans.

Interesting video here showing a closing circle at the end of an ISTA event

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tirr5dOx4OQ

In the video are Baba Dez Nichols, (founder of the Sedona Temple and ISTA - currently here in the UK), Rod "Bearcloud" Berry (the one with the drum), "Grey Eagle" (no idea who he is but I expect he's the one with the bird's wing) and Niki Faldemolaei (Senior person involved in ISTA and Sedona Temple - currently charged with a range of serious criminal offenses after the raids), Wayne Clayton (Senior person involved in ISTA and Sedona Temple and the Phoenix Goddess temple- currently charged with a range of serious criminal offenses after the raids)

here is another video of Niki Faldemolaei, filmed during a workshop at the Sedona Temple with trafficking recruiter Chekes Rada  (no explicit content - safe for work)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oeDUlIU3EM

here is a video with Chekes Rada from the same event (safe for work)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=knXGnC-73L8

These videos were uploaded almost exactly a year ago.

I do not have the resources to properly investigate the business relationship between the Sedona Temple, ISTA and the Russian trafficking network, but it is cause for extreme concern IMO.

At best the Sedona Temple has been negligently allowing trafficking networks to use their temple and has been allowing the network to recruit victims via workshops and retreats at the Sedona Temple.

At worst, well, given that this is an ongoing legal case, it is better that I do not say.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this guy and his video

Grey Eagle presents a sacred point of view about sexuality and consciousness for the ISTA 10th Anniversary conference in Sedona.

wow! I just watched a couple of minutes of it and am very concerned to hear his claims that he receives a grant to provide counselling to Native people who are victims of crime.

It is a very long video and I can't watch it all but would really appreciate any thoughts.

The video is hosted on his own youtube channel, I have no time to check out the other videos but would appreciate any help / info in reviewing them

also, just found this video of Grey Eagle (apparently a Choctaw Sundance Chief) talking about UFOs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTfWlMKV9sQ

Looks like he is also part of the Star Conferences group of frauds

The video suggests that he is a failed actor and stand up comedian who decided on a career change in pursuit of the newage $$$$

for clarity

The Phoenix Goddess Temple is the one that has gotten the most media attention and it was the subject of police attention initially.  The Sedona Temple, run by "Baba" Dez Nichols and Niki Faldemolaei subsequently became the subject of police attention after the cops realised that certain individuals were travelling between 2 "temples" / brothels.  The Sedona Temple has been on my radar for some time due to their organising, hosting and advertising various events where THB networks were represented.

I will write more re this soon

Al, you might want to move Mooney over to the frauds section, at least that’s what the federal courts seem to think.

I was doing some research on the Native American Church in the library today and I came across this book, The Peyote Road, by Thomas Constantine Maroukis.  Univ Oklahoma press 2010 ISBN 978-0-8061-4109-1

http://jah.oxfordjournals.org/content/97/3/888.1.full

It’s got a lot of case law regarding the Native American Church in it and this part about James and Linda Mooney was interesting:

“A more vexing case is that of James and Linda Mooney of Utah, who were arrested by state authorities in 2000 and charged with twelve first-degree felonies for possession of 12,000 Peyote buttons. They are founders of the Oklevueha Earth Walks Native American Church of Utah. Mr. Mooney claims membership in the Oklevueha Band of Yamasee Seminoles, which is not federally recognized.  The government claims the membership was obtained FRAUDULENTLY and the group has since revoked his membership. The Mooneys filed a countersuit claiming their home was entered illegally.  The NAC (Native American Church) of North America opposed the Mooneys and DISAVOWED any connection to them. In 2004 the case reached the Utah Supreme Court, which ruled in the Mooney’s favor, much to the surprise of the Peyote community and federal officials. The court ruled that Utah law had incorporated the DEA’s exemption for the religious use of Peyote by members of the Native American Church and the Mooneys were using the name of the Native American Church. This had serious implications since it meant that the non-Indian members could not be prosecuted. The NAC of North America and its attorneys began an ACTIVE CAMPAIGN to have the Utah legislature close this loophole. Church officials went to Utah to meet with state legislators. At this point, the Department of Justice became involved and after the state charges were voided, federal officials arrested the Mooneys and charged them with breaking federal law in the distribution of Peyote as they were NOT members of a federally recognized tribe.  Department of Justice officials negotiated with the Mooneys in 2006 and offered to drop all charges if they agreed never to acquire, use or distribute Peyote. On February 22, 2006 and agreement was signed. The case is of great concern to the NAC as it threatened their special exemption. In addition, if the Mooneys were ultimately successful in federal court, this could open up widespread use of Peyote and further threaten the supply.”  (Maroukis, pp. 223-224)

The chapter goes on to show how prices have been driven up by demand from white seekers and it threatens the rights to religious freedom of legitimate Native Americans.

Throughout the book, it makes it clear that the Native American Church wants an exemption only to the drug laws for sacramental use of Peyote and ONLY for members of federally recognized tribes. From chapter 6:

“If a person is not a member of a federally recognized tribe, he or she can be arrested for the use of Peyote.” The leadership of the NAC of North America makes this clear. It is in their bylaws as well as the bylaws of the state NAC organizations.” For example, the Utah NAC bylaws are very specific. One must be a member of a federally recognized tribe. Not following the law could jeopardize the church. The NAC is unequivocal about this as it continually reminds the membership about this law.” (Maroukis, p. 226)

So all these claims about it being an issue of religious freedom for nons to run a brothel because some wannabe blessed the place is just pure nonsense.  Legally, American Indians have a special political and legal relationship to the United States that outsiders do not have. The US government is obligated by law to protect Native religious freedom. Mooney hasn’t got a legal leg to stand on.

There’s also this on the net:

“Some people in Utah have made a mockery of Native American religion, making money in the guise of religious freedom," Oda told fellow members of the House Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Standing Committee, which advanced the bill to the House by a unanimous vote. “

“Carma Nez, a Navajo who is vice president of the local Native American Church of North America, said she has used peyote in sacred ceremonies since she was a little girl. Through tears, Nez said she felt Mooney and his followers were "making a mockery of our way of life."

“Ute religious leader Clifford Duncan told committee members he was hurt that a legal loophole was allowing peyote to be used by members of the general public.”

"I'm saddened that people will trample on something so sacred to Native Americans," Duncan said. "We need to stop our culture from being exploited."

http://wwrn.org/articles/20151/?&place=north-america&section=native-religions

In their detention hearing a detective testifies that he believes the Mooneys provided fraudulent documents to the court. It's here:

http://scofacts.org/Mooney-18-transcript.html

It is also  very interesting that the official Native American Church has moral and ethical standards derived from Christianity and one of the requirements for membership is that one lead a moral life (by Christian standards). Members of the legitimate Native American Church must live by the church’s moral code: lead a moral life and “must not lie or repeat falsehoods.”  I believe that would exclude lying about being NDN, running religious scam, pimpin & whorin.  Just sayin.

There are rumors around Phoenix that some type of hallucinogenic drug such as Peyote was confiscated in last week’s raid. If those rumors are true, Mooney violated his deal with the feds. There are also rumors that at least one of the “goddesses” was HIV positive. This makes this offensive cultural theft a public health hazard as well. At least the legal brothels in Nevada are regulated by the health board.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Nevada

The “church” didn’t have to test the “spiritual warriors” for diseases.

Another thing that occurred to me is that James Mooney may not even be his legal name, as James Mooney was the name of a Smithsonian ethnologist who studied the Ghost Dance and fought for the religious rights of Native Americans for the ceremonial use of Peyote in the early 1900s.  He may have just appropriated this name. He is misrepresenting himself all over the internet as a member of the Native American Church, but the book says they disavow any relationship to him. He could be using a pseudonym to cover up past scams.

As an interesting footnote, Peyote use for “religious” purposes is legal in Arizona if you can produce a membership card in the Native American Church, but it is still illegal on the reservations.

There are layers and layers of harm that these wannabes do to Native people and to the people they victimize with their lies.  Drug tourism harms legitimate Native religions in so many ways, but all of the comments from Phx liberals on the online stories are strongly in favor of the brothel.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the white courts and a predominantly white jury let them get away with a slap on the wrist.  They’ll be in business in again in another state before you know it.

O.K. They’re not a Native American Church anymore. Now, they’re a 501 C 3 legally recognized Tantric church. They found an attorney to defend their case as a “civil rights issue.”

I'm guessing that the brothel has deep pockets and that's the reason the attorney was so "inspired" by the case.

James Flaming Eagle Mooney posted bail for one of the “Goddesses”. I wonder where he got the money?

Tantric teacher calls out Goddess Temple founder

http://www.kpho.com/story/15446582/tantric-teacher-calls-out-goddess-temple-founder

I checked out this woman's website and she runs various women's spirchul "tantra" retreats that don't look much different to the retreats and intensives run by traffickers.

Just for example she claims to have undertaken and to be able to teach White Tigress training.

A number of abusive pseudo-tantric / pseudo-Taoist cults train women in White Tigress training and I will leave a reviewer on Amazon to tell you how it is.

This is a review of the book "The Sexual Teachings of the White Tigress: Secrets of the Female Taoist Masters"

Quote
"Inspiring, positive and daring. This book gives insight in a not-so-well-known path for women, to Enlightenment and Immortality.
Based on a healthy diet, excercise, and spiritual practices, a woman can restore her vitality. Complimented with sexual techniques, she can reach Enlightenment and Immortality.

For every woman who likes the idea of taking good care of her own body, this book will give you guidelines on how to do so. It's yoga and massage schedule is a true gem.

The book's view on sex and Enlightenment is completely different to intercourse-based Tantra and mainstream taoistic lovemaking. Hsi Lai advocates women to refrain from those and choose an alternative sexual path;

A White Tigress will only engage in intercourse if she works together with a male spiritual practitioner (a Jade Dragon). Her most common habits are oral sex with multiple partners, her Green Dragons.

This book states that for men immortality can be achieved by, increasing their "yin" through meditation and through stealing "yin" by penetration with women. While for a woman, not intercourse but performing and receiving oral sex is her way to more yang. Subsequently, a women is warned that she will loose her vitality if she involves in "ordinary" penetration, and a man will loose his if he "wastes" sperm by coming outside a vagina.

Between all the questionable things in this book, I found this vampire like view the most daring. Men and women preying on eachothers "qi". What kind of Enlightenment could come from that?"

So, to conclude, regarding this woman who claims to be the real deal, and says that she does not advocate the cheap sexualisation of tantra, promotes a model of sexual training that advocates women to fellate multiple men without barrier protection.  OKaaaay.  I think the lady doth complain too much.

I despair about the state of journalism that so many hacks just take the word of any old pseudo-tantric who pops out of the woodwork as something worth reporting without checking her credentials first.   The situation is not unlike that of the James Arthur Ray sweatlodge deaths where TV reporters criticised Ray's amateurism and invited yet another fraud to  show how a real sweatlodge was done.

Trafficking networks are not fussy about what type of spiritual beliefs they adopt in order to camouflage their nefarious activities.

A former member of the pseudo-tantric cult / criminal THB network MISA who managed to infiltrate their latest "yoga convention" has reported back that MISA is launching an evangelical Christian wing of its trafficking network.

In fact MISA in its various territories internationally represents itself as a Christian organisation and even campaigns against "Satanism".  On Halloween they dress up as angels, complete with long white robes and wings, and go onto the streets to offer people free hugs and thus thwart demonic powers.  They also like to hang about outside hospices and hospitals, dressed in their angelic garb, again offering free hugs.  In the latter locations they can help seriously ill people to understand that "ayervedic" and herbal remedies are better than conventional medicine and that leaving worldly goods to your relatives is futile when you can leave them to a spiritual guru. Anyway, I digress.....

There is a long history of Christian missionaries either facilitating genocide and sexual abuse amongst tribal people by others or even committing it themselves.

The excellent documentary, which a dear friend showed me recently, Prisoners of a White God viewable here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c5Xa5EOfuk

demonstrates how paedophiles and people traffickers started Christian orphanages and schools in Thailand and stole children from their families, put them in orphanages, ostensibly to teach them Thai language and to help them find Jesus.  In the schools and orphanages the children were taught that their tribal identities and cultures were primitive and ignorant.  The children were forbidden to speak in their own language and were trafficked, used as a slave labour force and sexually abused, all by Christian missionaries.

In such cases it does not really matter whether the traffickers and abusers consider themselves to be real Christians.  Children are trafficked and abused and that is the important issue, religion is just a distraction.

In this case of the Phoenix and Sedona Temples it does not matter to me whether people consider themselves to be authentic tantric educators or sex workers.

It seems to me that there is very likely to be a significant differences between people arrested in the brothel raids.  Some may be predatory, in receipt of significant revenue streams and be knowledgeable about criminal issues unknown to others, some may simply be sex workers keen to work safely and learn diverse skills, some may be people who have been coerced or tricked by a cult (often believing that they are burning bad karma or personifying a goddess by doing sex work), some may give all or most of their earnings to a pimp / guru some may keep all of their earnings after paying the "house".

I feel upset and disturbed by the "perp walk" as most of the people shown are probably just sex workers trying to put food on the table and there is a real possibility that some may have been trafficked and coerced.  Pseudo-tantric cults, by their nature specialise in pimping out women who have no idea they have been trafficked and who believe that they are enlightened or saving the planet by doing sex work.

I just think that this is a complex situation and that putting everyone in the brothel together for a perp walk demonstrated either a lack of understanding of that complexity (and of the THB issues) or a lack or concern for the rights of THB victims on the part of law enforcement.

Some of the "tantric" retreats and intensive training courses offered at the Sedona Temple and by the ISTA are fronts for recruitment into enslavement.

I do not know the personal or professional histories of the sex workers arrested at the Phoenix Temple but I think it is entirely possible that one or more of them have been trafficked.

I wonder how much the LEOs investigating this really know about the trafficking links? I suspect that they are not fully aware or they may have treated potential victims with more care and respect and not subjected them to the perp walk.

This is the thing that really concerns me about the arrests and charges so far and also the fact that it was local LE and not the FBI (at least to my knowledge) that planned and executed the raid.

The cops would have my support more fully had they not subjected possible THB victims to a perp walk and had this been a bigger operation.

As I said earlier I do not feel it is my place to condemn a group of adults who, without coercion or guile or force decide to work as sex workers in a brothel.

I feel concerned that the cops have gone for the angle that this was a church disguised as a brothel but seem blithely unaware (as shown by the perp walk) of the THB angle.

If they have been investigating this for 6 months I can't believe that they will not have noticed the workshops by Master Chekes and Master Perun.

How could they not have noticed this post on one of Dez Nichols' blogs?

World Tour - ep.9 - Romania

Costinesti Romania, the New Jersey of Europe....

Baba Dez Nichols - "We visited the Summer Camp for the MISA School. It is a very large school with over 10,000 members around the world. There is a lot of politics and controversy surrounding this and other large schools..... it just happens with size. There are always "bad apples" in every group as well as those that are in fear and competition or have been hurt by ex-lovers that are ex members of the school.

What I know is that the individuals that I have personally met with MISA, are good people that are helping themselves and others to be free and healthy. There are allegations of wrong doings including human trafficking. It is up to those that are making the accusations to prove them.

Although I am not a part of MISA and ISTA is not affiliated with MISA, I will speak to ANY group that wants to know about the Temple Arts and living in Love. ISTA also invites individuals to speak about the Temple Arts at their Conferences worldwide. ISTA does not condone or support any criminal activities or behavior. To my knowledge, no one i have met at MISA has been convicted of anything...
so, to anyone that is anti-MISA, please get some proof and substance behind your allegations.... then i will stand with you to hold anyone accountable for wrong doing."

source:
http://myjtl.blogspot.com/2010_08_30_archive.html

The fact is that lots of people warned him to not have anything to do with MISA and sent him info about the THB that he refused to look at.

The fact is that he went to Romania with his son Ryan.  He saw how MISA works.  He will have seen the notorious Miss Shakti contest.  He saw that all the MISA promotional material was semi-pornographic or even just porn.  His astonishing conclusion was that the pornographic material did not reflect the MISA people he knew and that there must have been a mix up with their graphic designer.

Incredible.

Even if there have not yet been any convictions, the MISA school is at the centre of a massive human trafficking trial in Romania.  It is a huge trial with over 40 defendants.   You would have imagined that, with so many people contacting him to warn him, he would have taken a few minutes to check out some of the exmisa websites and find out what is actually going on.

He claims that ISTA is not affiliated with MISA and yet, even after all the warnings and all the material available online, easy to find, Mr Nichols organised and hosted an ISTA event in the Netherlands where several MISA VIPs, including the notorious pimp and trafficker Mihai Stoian were given time, space and an audience to promote their odious organisation.

So Dez Nichols attends a huge, depraved, event in Romania as a special guest of MISA (he even gets to meet the great guru / pimp Bivolaru himself), he has numerous MISA VIPS on his facebook friends list and he organises events where MISA VIPs promote their thing.

All of this does not prove that Nichols is actively involved in trafficking but his associations with such a serious criminal network are cause for extreme concern and hopefully this has been investigated, at least to some degree.

I find it hard to believe that the LEOs would have failed to notice all of this if they were investigating the brothels for 6 months.

They may not be aware of the links if they are local cops they may not know to look
for MISA or whatever is there. Sometimes, totally focused on one aspect they may miss
what is obvious to those who know what is what.. ?

Anyway, just thought if they haven't notices, pointing it out to them may be useful. :)

I had no idea there was such a dark underside to the tantric community.  All the "goddesses" interviewed on the local news were pretty defiant.  They all seemed to be very much in control of the interviews and keen business women.  What struck me lately, is that all the supporters who claim not to be associated with the temple have that same glassy-eyed look. I've been watching a lot of interviews and looking closely at the eyes of the people sticking up for the temple and their eyes all have that indoctrinated look.

There is growing strong support for this group in the Phoenix progressive community.  It looks like a sure thing for jury nullification if it ever goes to trial in Phoenix.  Supporters of the group are doing everything they can to convince the public that this is an religious freedom issue and the temple has Native American support.  I've heard dozens of nons in Tucson talking about the "Native Americans" who's rights are being taken away by Arpaio.  The temple has completely re-framed the issue to suit their purposes.

This is Mooney’s response to a bunch of people who called him out 2 years ago on not being able to prove he’s NDN on Desert News.

(It’s some other Rose commenting, not me)

“A federal ID number for a lot of folks is simply a prison number. Federal authorities informed me of my authentic American Native blood through DNA testing.

A race of people do not own nor does the U.S. government have the ability under the constitution to legally set the ideology of any church, let alone the First Nations Spirituality religion known as the Native American Church.

I personally, nor does my friend and Co-Founder of Oklevueha Native American Church Richard 'He Who Has the Foundation' Swallow a Federally Recognized Lakota Sioux man, have a problem with other bona fide Native American Churches who choose to close their doors to races.

The Great Spirit and our Seminole and Lakota Sioux Elders have told us in no uncertain terms we are to take these ceremonies to all people.

Oklevueha NAC simple wants to worship our beliefs in the manner the Great Spirit directs us to do and with that we let other NAC do what prompts them to do.”

http://www.deseretnews.com/user/comments/700246682/Native-American-churchs-items-are-returned.html

No surprises here.
Sounds like the standard twinkie defense to me.
It’s like there’s a handbook they all read on how to answer charges of wannabeism.

Also, there’s this online about a James W Mooney receiving a court-martial for weed & LSD. (Sounds like his work)

http://www.armfor.uscourts.gov/newcaaf/opinions/1997Term/97-0703.htm

I wonder if this is the same guy? He’s around 67 now, so he’d have been kind of old to be in the air force in ’97 unless he was a career officer.

unless people in Phoenix are thinking this group was only about how they wish to practice
their beliefs as adults, rather than knowing the trafficking angle and the misappropriation
of NA ways.

Maybe the progressive people in Phoenix should see these videos before they decide to support the Phoenix and Sedona brothels

MISA - The Dark Side of a Tantric Cult (Finnish documentary with English subtitles after the intro)
http://www.trilulilu.ro/bl00ser/fea89d3d0a6859

The video is from a Finnish perspective as Natha, the Scandinavian subsidiary of MISA, is recruiting victims from Finland, but it is important to remember that MISA recruits victims (male and female - they are involved in labour trafficking in factories, printing presses and construction sites) from all of the countries in which they operate, including the US.

Once you have seen that video then the next video by Dez Nichols is a must see
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cln8PfaUzeg

It gets especially interesting 5 minutes in, so if you are pushed for time just start it 5 minutes in
The video is all about what happened when Dez Nichols and his son Ryan went to stay in Costinesti, Romania as VIP guests of Gregorian Bivolaru

at 10.06 into the video you can see a brief clip of Dez Nichols with 2 MISA agents who are highly active in the US

They are

and Ramona Onisor
FB page here
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001232531891

at 10.18 minutes in you see a clip of the beach in Costinesti that includes the abandoned, rusting ship that was the location for at least one MISA porn film

At the end of the video there is a clip of Nichols in conversation with one of the most senior members of MISA, the pimp Mihai Stoian

Other MISA VIPS who are facebook friends of Dez Nichols

Arthur Lederer
MISA VIP, former Israeli army officer, now takes care of PR for MISA.  Also appears in MISA promotional material as a poster boy for men doing Karma Yoga (unpaid labour).  In fact here's an example on the blog of MISA VIP the photographer Pierre Crie
http://pierrecrie.blogspot.com/2007/04/arthur.html
The text reads:
Quote
Arthur is always smiling... could be from his intense yoga practice... 8 hrs a day 365 days no matter what happens...
5 days / week he does 10 hrs of karma yoga...voluntary work mostly in construction building for the yoga school.
I admire his courage and dedication to spiritual evolution... he told me stories from his time as an israeli officer on the egyptian and palestinian borders but you would have to meet him to hear them.....
Like other Jewish MISA members, Arthur is also wheeled out to dismiss the charges of anti-Semitism against MISA.  The scary thing is that in some ways the MISA PR machine is similar to that of the Nazis, inasmuch as they show photos that relate the idea of a Jewish man working away happily whereas in fact the reality is that the conditions on the "ashrams" are very varied.  Arthur is in the VIP section.  Conditions elsewhere are cramped, dangerous, unsanitary, cold, rat infested work camps.

Right, I'm thinking the progressive groups are jumping on the bandwagon
without really knowing what's up here.. if it were truly a religious belief not
a misappropriation, and were truly just adults engaging in sex, paid for or
not, I too wouldn't have a problem with it. But it's NOT.

I think the progressive groups have no clue.

I don't get much news here since I only get local channels, and the search I did

any NA's protesting this Mooney guy and him calling this a NAC?

This is really dreadful and upsetting.

I had no idea there was such a dark underside to the tantric community.

Well, again, these are people doing a Newage bastardization of East Indian Tantra. They really have no more to do with traditional, real temples in India than Harley Reagan has to do with the Cherokee.

And I am sickened at all the white liberals and so-called progressives who are supporting this racism and human trafficking. They have bought so many lies I don't even know where to start when trying to talk to them. They have kneejerk responses of telling us we're "anti-sex" when some of us tell them we're opposed to people being prostituted, and they scream "religious persecution" when we point out they're defending racist, cultural appropriators. The sad thing is so many people (and yes, the overwhelming majority of them are white liberals) are so unclear on the issues that they don't even realize what they are defending.

I have been trying to find the names of the progressive groups
supporting this. The info I pull up on the web doesn't even cover
the human trafficking or appropriation issues, all that comes up
is the issue of it being what people believe in their religion and
that it's consenting adults. I haven't seen any thing where the
real issues are being presented. Even the police don't bring up
the trafficking issues.

It's hard to condemn people who have no clue..
I don't support ignorance, but there seems to be a lot of it here
due to a lack of education on the matters here.

Has anyone from the East India Trantra groups stepped in to
denounce this as part of their teachings? Has any one stepped in
to denounce the NAC angle?

I also like to think that liberals and progressives are of every color,
but perhaps it is only white people who believe the issue is of
religious freedom?

hmmm

I feel very concerned about the alleged infiltration of some Arizona based LEOs by Mexican dug and human trafficking cartels, as detailed in this news story from May 2011.

Quote
3 in MCSO accused of cartel ties
Authorities: Officers helped smuggle drugs, immigrants
by JJ Hensley - May. 25, 2011 12:00 AM
The Arizona Republic
Three Maricopa County sheriff's employees, including a deputy in the human-smuggling unit, were arrested Tuesday by authorities who say they were involved in a drug- and human-trafficking ring and used Sheriff's Office intelligence to guide smugglers through the Valley.

Deputy Alfredo Navarrette, 37, has worked with the Sheriff's Office for nearly a decade, serving in a special unit designed to target human smugglers moving through Maricopa County. But investigators believe Navarrette was himself involved in human smuggling. Investigators found two undocumented immigrants in Navarrette's home when he was arrested early Tuesday morning in a sweep that concluded a yearlong investigation.

"The fight against drugs, illegal immigration and human trafficking is important not only to me but the citizens of Arizona," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said. "That a deputy sheriff would provide information and associate with these drug and human traffickers is despicable."

Investigators from a multijurisdiction drug task force also arrested two sheriff's detention officers, Sylvia Najera, 25, and Marcella Hernandez, 28. They are accused of laundering money and moving drugs for a Valley-based drug-trafficking organization with ties to Mexico.

Arpaio said Hernandez is eight months' pregnant with the child of another suspect arrested Tuesday, Francisco "Lorenzo" Arce-Torres, who is described in court records as a member of the Sinaloa drug cartel and the leader of the Phoenix-based drug-trafficking organization at the heart of the probe.

Court records indicate Hernandez had $20,000 cash on her when she and Najera were arrested Tuesday morning on their way to work at the Lower Buckeye Jail.

12 suspects held
The sheriff's employees were among 12 suspects arrested Tuesday during a series of early-morning raids at 16 locations throughout the Valley where investigators had targeted members of the organization.

The group mostly moved heroin, according to investigators, and officials suspect each of the arrested sheriff's employees played a crucial role in moving the drugs and hiding the illicit profits. Authorities say the ring moved about $56,000 worth of heroin a week through the Valley.

Arce-Torres, who authorities say was the ringleader, arranged for heroin to be brought into the Valley after his brothers produced the drug on the family's ranch in Mexico, according to Superior Court and Justice Court documents filed Tuesday.

Once the drugs arrived in Arizona, they were shipped to two houses in the West Valley, where the heroin was diluted to create more product, investigators said in the court documents.

Hernandez's brother, Duran Joseph Alcantar, who was also among those arrested, is suspected of operating one of the stash houses, and investigators believe Hernandez coordinated the pickup and delivery of heroin from the drug houses.

Investigators say they believe Navarrette helped the ring by fortifying Arce-Torres' home with surveillance cameras, registering drug-courier vehicles in his name and laundering money.

Navarrette and Najera, the other arrested detention officer, helped set up a shell corporation called West Utilities Group Inc., which was used earlier this month to launder nearly $50,000 in drug proceeds, according to court documents.

Najera's name appears on West Utilities Group's corporation filings in Arizona, along with that of a Phoenix construction company owner who was arrested on suspicion of laundering money for the organization.

Investigators believe that, in addition to laundering money and doing other chores for the ring, Navarrette himself was smuggling humans.

"Navarrette assists this (human smuggling) organization by operating a drophouse and on at least five occasions transported illegal aliens from Arizona to California for the organization," records state.

Yearlong inquiry
A tip about the ring came into the sheriff's special-investigations unit almost a year ago, and the investigation moved slowly at the outset, according to sheriff's officials.

Navarrette remained on patrol duty until he was moved to the sheriff's training facility a couple of months ago for a violation of office policy that was unrelated to his suspected role in the trafficking ring.

Sheriff's officials said the probe was unique and had to be handled delicately because of the serious criminal allegations against law-enforcement employees. That meant that transferring one of the suspects to another role within the office, or even pulling personnel files, could have been enough to tip off friends that something was afoot and risk spoiling the investigation.

Navarrette had the most opportunity to gather information and influence investigations because of his work on the streets. Even he could not be moved out of his role in the human-smuggling unit, however, until supervisors found a violation of office policy that gave them reason to move him without compromising the probe.

"There was not enough to take any action against him, either, until very recently," said Deputy Chief Brian Sands, who oversees the human-smuggling group.

Navarrette has been with the Sheriff's Office since 2001 and worked in a variety of roles, including patrol and court services, in addition to his role with the human-smuggling unit.

Rosters for the unit indicate that Navarrette was a member from the earliest days of the sheriff's controversial "crime-suppression operations," when deputies and posse members flood a region of the Valley looking for minor traffic violations and potential immigration offenses.

Arpaio said he believed Navarrette used information from those operations and his position in law enforcement to help coordinate the movement of contraband through the Valley.

"He repeatedly supplied details about the illegal-immigration crime-suppression operation to leaders of the drug-trafficking organization," Arpaio said. "This action placed numerous deputies, reserves and posse volunteers in harm's way while they were volunteering and conducting operations."

Arpaio could not say when Navarrette last worked on a crime-suppression operation with the human-smuggling unit.

Probe continues
The investigation went public when search warrants were served and a series of arrests were made Tuesday. But officials say the probe could last for months and target other suspects.

A few additional sheriff's employees were being interviewed Tuesday night, Arpaio said, to determine what they may know of the suspects' activities in the Sheriff's Office. "Doesn't mean they're guilty of anything," Arpaio added.

Investigators are also trying to determine the extent of the ties between the suspects and members of multinational drug-trafficking organizations operating in Arizona.

Navarrette was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on suspicion of 19 violations including conspiracy, money laundering and human smuggling. He was being held on a $1 million cash bond.

Hernandez, booked on suspicion of committing 11 violations, including conspiracy, drug crimes and money laundering, was placed under a $2 million cash bond at a Tuesday court appearance. The reasoning for the $1 million bond disparity was laid out in court documents for Hernandez, who just returned from a trip to San Luis, Mexico, with Arce-Torres, suspected of being the ringleader.

"Hernandez has said that she, Torres and co-conspirator Navarrette have talked about leaving the U.S. and living on one of Torres' ranches in Mexico," the documents state.

Najera was in custody Tuesday and faced money-laundering and other charges.

I am especially concerned with this because some of the people who attended Sedona Temple tantric workshops run by "Mater Perun" and "Master Chekes" (and at least one of whom is now connected to the Phoenix Temple), have been recruited by Perun and Cheles into an international criminal network of people and drug traffickers that is highly active in Mexico and inevitably will be working with Mexican criminal networks.

Who to trust in such an appalling situation?

I only just saw this news video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ii7FLZ_qdU0

It is fairly clear that, at the time it was made, the Sedona LEOs and prosecutor were feeling confident that they had discovered a brothel masquerading as a church and that this is a big case and an important expose of criminality camouflaged as spirituality.

Right at the end someone asks if the cops are looking for Baba Dez Nichols and the cops replies that they are not currently seeking him.  It is obvious that they have no idea about Baba Dez and his many organised criminal contacts.

A little thought popped into my mind as to what this situation is like........

If they were not cops but anglers, they would be congratulating themselves on the huge fish they managed to catch, so excited by their triumph that they do not notice that the water in the lake behind them is black.  It is black because it contains a fish so massive that it takes up the entire lake.  It is a formidable predator, a terrifying creature.  It was there right next to them all along and they didn't even notice.

What struck me lately, is that all the supporters who claim not to be associated with the temple have that same glassy-eyed look. I've been watching a lot of interviews and looking closely at the eyes of the people sticking up for the temple and their eyes all have that indoctrinated look.

You are an astute person Rose.

It has come to my attention that one of the supporters of Tracey Elise who has posted a video on youtube calling for community support for the "Goddess Temple" is in fact a vulnerable, mentally challenged young woman, an American citizen who is under the control of an extremely dangerous Russian THB network.

This young woman was almost certainly recruited by "Master Chekes" (probably at the Sedona Temple) and has been highly active organising recruitment workshops for the Russians for several months at least.

Unfortunately this young woman now poses a danger to other US citizens, even though she herself is probably well intentioned, naive and exploited.

The Russian network I am talking about has many names including Aharata, Universynergy Arts, Ashram Shambala, The Russian Academy of Happiness (and a whole load of other names).  This network is established in Russia, the Ukraine, the US, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Spain, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, the UK and various other territories.

I know of this young woman as she posted a testimony video on one of the Universynergy Arts channels - where she was dressed in a very sexually provocative way - and where she stated that the Aharata training had changed her life to the extent that she no longer had to take her mood stabilising meds.

This woman's treatment at the hands of the OC network is fairly typical, they recruit vulnerable adults, persuade them to stop taking their meds (they tell them they are not really mentally ill but are in fact shamans and super-human people who should devote themselves to a guru in order to develop spiritually) and exploit them in all kinds of ways.  This woman has been very busy organising recruitment workshops for the network and thus, unfortunately, poses a danger to other US citizens.

The "testimonial" video was removed recently and the channel hosting it has closed, however I have a copy saved and it is definitely the same young woman.

I am not going to post the videos here or ID the woman's real name as she is a vulnerable adult who is the victim of crime.

I am curious as to who her parents are.  Cultic THB networks love to recruit the children of senior cops, politicians and other influential people.  They then use their new recruit to control their parents via blackmail and threats of what they will do to their son or daughter.

This is a horrible situation.

I just wanted to share this satirical blog entry by a blogger called "nightwind" as I think it is relevant to this thread.

Quote
After well over 9 years since the invasion of Afghanistan, the United States has finally proclaimed victory over the Taleban. Shocked, the nay-sayers were left staring in disbelief as the high command of the United States forces in Afghanistan released a thorough declaration, which we took the liberty of quoting:

“I know that we left the impression that the United States Army was a brutal and lawless bunch, but this was all part of the plan to fool the enemy. We know that the secret of victory is winning the hearts and minds of the people. As such, we realized this is not a war of weapons but of culture, therefore we knew the real purpose is to replace the Taleban-instated customs with the ancient Afghan customs, truly liberating the people!”

As the world awed at the truly surprising US strategy, the story is confirmed independently by New York Times, The Guardian, Frontline as well as the recently leaked cables from Wikileaks. The final blow to the Taleban was reinstating the ancient custom of bacha bazi, which consists in having young boy lovers in addition to a decent number of wives.

The Afghan Interior Minister, mr Atmar, had this to say: We are extremely grateful to former United States President mr George W Bush as well as the United States Army and DynCorps for bringing us the freedom to return to our ancient ways. Too long have the Taleban prevented us from having sex with your boys! This repression of our customs is the pinnacle of our struggle for freedom. Allah bless America! Today America brought us this freedom, we hope that soon people all over the world can enjoy the right to have sex with young boys!

As expected, NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) saluted the position of the United States government and DynCorps: we knew this days was bound to come. After all, what’s wrong with loving underage boys? Love is such a beautiful thing! Our honorary president and former US president George W Bush will be thrilled! This is real democracy, where everyone is free to love in their own way!

This news has not been well received by the Taleban press, which proceeded to accuse the United States of double standards: American pigs are such hypocrites! They allow the Afghan to indulge in such disgraceful orgies while their own people are not!

Fearing armed retribution which the pacifist United States Army could not handle, The Guardian tried to downplay the move, saying that in the new bacha bazi the young boys are merely performing ancient tribal dances, not having sex. The next morning however, the United States was left without strip clubs as each and every strip club in the country closed down. Coincidentally, the very same day a number of tribal clubs were opened where naked young women were performing ancient tribal fertility dances in the laps of their customers.

Dan Gussman, former own of strip club “Puss in Boots”, had this to say: Owning a strip club was becoming quite a bad business. The police always raided us, the fines were driving our profit into the ground and we could no longer afford to hire nice strippers. However, having a tribal dance club is so much better. Now we actually hired several new strip… ummm … I mean tribal dancers. We usually charge a modic fee for the type of tribal dance performed: the cheapest being a regular tribal dance around the customer, while the most expesive is a full-blown fertility test.

Romanian Guru Gregorian Bivolaru proceeded to sue not only each tribal dance club but also American security contractor DynCorps, claiming he owns the intellectual rights over masquerading underage sex as a religious activity. I can no longer stand by and watch people profit from my intellectual property. Intellectual property is a fundamental democratic value and as such, I want my due share. I have fought hard and suffered in order to obtain the rights to sell my religious video tutorials about integrating into the absolute with the help of several underage girls. My theory is the one that clearly states that the religious experience becomes better as your partner’s age decreases. Bacha bazi is clearly inspired from my idea!

Although mr Bivolaru’s claim seems shaky given that bacha bazi refers to boys (not girls) and is several hundred years older than his theory, the sovereign state of Sweden decided to offer him sanctuary and support both for protecting his theories and against any sexual offense charges layed against him by the Romanian government. Prime Minister Reinfeldt of Sweden made an exclusive declaration: We feel that mr Bivolaru’s theory about spiritual integration via sex with underage girls is a fresh and modern approach to spirituality and we feel this treasure must be protected. Following this spirit, we strongly support our American allies in promoting bacha bazi, the spiritual equivalent with respect to sex with underage boys, not only in Afghanistan but in the whole world! In an unrelated topic however, we are strongly disgusted by mr Julian Assange’s practice of having unprotected consensual sex with mature women!

The other NAMBLA (North American Marlon Brando Look-alikes Association) promptly detached itself from the dispute.

http://www.dragonflame.org/2010/12/08/united-states-claims-afghanistan-victory-at-last/

Apart from the obvious stuff about the hypocrisy of the US (and I am ashamed to say the UK) nation states allying themselves with a network of paedophile child traffickers in Afghanistan, I thought that the descriptions of strip clubs being replaced by tribal dance clubs might ring a few bells with people.

Criminals have been playing this game for decades and getting away with it.

In the age of the internet criminals are using social networking websites and new technology to groom and recruit victims and their criminal businesses have flourished and grown strong.

The only good thing about this is that the OC networks' use of online social media means that they leave an electronic trail which will hopefully help LEOs to stop them.

and for those who are interested to learn more about the THB cultic OC network Aharata / Universynergy Arts / Ashram Shambala there is a good piece here, although please note that, like the Russian news coverage, the focus is on cultic activities and not THB.  This piece is also very out of date but it contains a lot of relevant info in the one piece so I thought it worth including here.

Quote
Shambhala School (Sotidanandana Yoga Center)

Other names: Everest headquarters, School of Yoga, Rajneesh Center, Avicenna.

Description: a dangerous criminal organization, whose leaders passionate about oriental and occult practices. Puts followers in terms of slave life. Uses elements of violence.

Currently there are about 7 Novosibirsk apartments for living together adepts - ashrams, the total number of "devotees" - apparently a few dozen people.

The leaders of the cult - Konstantin Rudnev (the name of the sect - Sri Jnana Avatar Muni), 29, calls himself an enlightened teacher, a god; Shudnev Konstantin Leonidovich (name of the sect - Shiva Acharya), 21, is busy the organizational issues that may Fraud in real estate, as well as several other young people.

Nestle lectures on the study of yoga, "eternal truths", which made the selection of prospective followers, ie, people with heightened suggestibility, supple psyche. Seminars, participation fee - about 6 million rubles. Going about 60-70 people. Classes - spontaneous impromptu lecture manager or his students. Are held in rented houses of culture, sometimes in the ashrams. Rudnev likes to interpret the various parables, Bles-nut erudition, but in "my circle" recognizes that this is only for external, that it is not so, as he said so publicly. In addition to lectures - collective meditation, dance and yoga exercises. Mentors are often over-enced with the so-called adeptkami tantra-yoga, ie, sexual magical practices.

The most "loyal" settled in an ashram, where supposedly there are "special" conditions for "spiritual growth". For ordinary members of the ashram dream - 3 hours, meager vegetarian food, continuous operation, frequent physical abuse, sometimes sadistic forms for women - "Tantra practices." At this time, "mentors" carefully watching the adept-E, without losing the slightest infraction, read impromptu lecture (for "spiritual development"). Practices of collective meditation - a curse on the enemy, for example, to annoy the neighbors, but especially - for those who left the sect. Several people stand in a circle, imagining that the center is the enemy, and throws him his anger, swearing, cursing at him, imagining that they beat him.

In a more narrow range of Rudnev teaches the need to get rid of parental authority, which are suitable only for a second to take money from them and bring in the sect. External to the sect of people called "mice", in relation to them is permissible theft, deception and violence. At one meeting there was much talk about Hitler, about the need Unicov-tozhit all old and weak.

In general, "the school" gives the impression of a criminal group, whose leaders passionate about yogic and occult practices.

Doctrine: has a pronounced impression of dilettantism. Published several pamphlets for the domestic user-Bani, outlining the views of leaders, consisting mainly of excerpts of popular books containing most of doubtful elements of oriental studies. The style of the author's own views rather vulgar, gives you, their lack of any serious knowledge of Eastern religions. Rites group - teatralizo-bathing action, designed to produce an effect on the uninitiated, his "elevation", actually contains some simple elements of primitive occult practices. Popular with the leaders of the book Averyanova, Carlos Castaneda, "Astral Karate", "Karma Yoga" etc.

Criminal cases: Cases sale adepts of his property, apartments to transfer all the money mentors.

We have the physical abuse of the adepts of the teachers, or at their direction.

Thanks for the cult info. It’s very enlightening.

Re: liberals

I’m talking about real 3 dimensional people, walking around Phoenix, Mesa and Tucson that claim to be ‘progressive’ or ‘liberal’ that I have actually spoken to.  I can’t even count the number of white liberals who have lectured me on this subject and pontificated about their superior, enlightened ‘liberal’ values. Most of them just can’t understand why I’m so ungrateful when they’ve been so kind to help educate such an ignorant savage.

I stumbled upon this on twitter. Jackie Lynn of the Aboriginal Women's Action Network articulates the real issues here much better that I could. It's all about naming and power.

More facts are coming out about Mooney and his connections all over Arizona. It looks like his camp in Phoenix are also loosely connected to the Destini cult (check out all the YouTube exposes on it) and are behind an organized movement by middle/upper class whites to EXPLOIT women in order to turn an easy profit. Anyone who thinks this is about “consensual sex” is either extremely ignorant and misinformed about the issues. The Phoenix “goddesses” were 99% poor white women who were already trapped in prostitution and just wanted a little bit nicer cage.

There are no real principles at stake here – just the same old justifications for not working for a living and exploiting the resources/labor of less powerful people. SSDD.
Prostitution is antithetical to all traditional indigenous values. The real problem here is that White liberals cannot understand that there is a huge gap between their values and ours. They continue to use language of liberation to obscure the real issues at stake here. Traditional native people are nearly 100% united in their strong opposition to prostitution.  It’s better to listen, than to regurgitate empty white liberal rhetoric. There’s no point wasting your life thinking that white liberal “free market” values are in any way complimentary to traditional indigenous values. In most cases involving women and children, they are polar opposites.  Mooney exploited the language of the 60s counterculture and the language of liberation to trap those women into working for his front group.

Abolition of Prostitution (Aboriginal Women's Action Network & Vancouver Rape Relief)

http://youtu.be/NXUS4MavdU8

On YouTube, Mooney is so bold, he even admits on this video that he intends to violate his agreement with the feds and to ignore the 1994 amendment to the AIRFA.

Couple agree to end peyote use if feds drop drug charges

You can see Mooney’s audacity here in making statements he has to know are not true:

James Mooney Oklevueha Native American Church ONAC

http://youtu.be/oYoNFRBphBM

He's knowingly lying to the public to hawk those fake NAC cards, making them think they now have First Amendment protection to use peyote that they do not have.

Flaming Eagle Mooney ONAC discussion Phoenix Mother Medicine Wheel

http://youtu.be/F2HZ0FAX0mg

In this one, he has the audacity to pretend to be an expert on sweat lodges and comment on the James Arthur Ray trial.

To me, Mooney looks like Ted Knight, the guy who played the judge in Caddyshack. He’s tanner than John Boner and spouting twice as much nonsense. There are comments all over the internet from the Utah NAC stating that he charges $12,000 for his ceremonies, but he waits until his victims are high on peyote to hit them up for money.

He has an agreement with the US attorney, so he has to know that everything he said in this video, one month ago, was false.  He is still selling fake NAC membership cards in Southern Arizona and is connected to several twinkie retreats here in Tucson. He has an even bigger following among white wannabes than he did before the temple was busted. They all think they're supporting Native Americans by supporting Mooney.

Mooney, like all cult leaders, is counting on white seekers believing what he says because THEY WANT TO believe it and not even bothering to check out if what he says has any truth to it at all.  Mooney counts on them only "looking into their hearts" and not checking out what the law really says.  I see tremendous parallels between the actions of Kamala Devi and the Rainbow family a couple of years ago regarding the Fonty Fox riots. (Anybody using the term "LEO" is suspect) They have flooded the comments section of every news story and YouTube with their propaganda which is not in any way based in fact. They are both expert propagandists. They are highly organized and they know to get their spin on the story out early and to reinforce it every chance they get. They use liberation jargon to demonize anyone as “unenlightened” who calls them on their many false statements.  It’s like they all have the same PR manual to consult. Both groups know most people decide what to believe based on feelings and intuition and will not take the time to research both sides on an issue. Cults, frauds, quacks and plastic shame-men all depend on this for their livelihood.

If you want to see Mooney investigated and prosecuted, unfortunately, you have to write to the extremely right wing Attorney General of Arizona, Tom Horne

I took a couple of hours checking out youtube videos re Desteni - a frustrating experience as many of the people on them talked slowly, seemed confused and would benefit from taking classes in getting to the point.  One of the problems with abusive cults is that people emerge from them in a fairly bad way, often unable to  express their feelings coherently.

When I have some time to spare I will try to find some clear and concise about Desteni

I read a comment on a news piece that one of the "Goddesses" was a vulnerable woman who had been involved in prostitution since the age of 13.

I have to say that, as much as I like newage frauds to be exposed and stopped, I get no satisfaction from seeing some of the most oppressed and vulnerable people in society cuffed and subjected to a perp walk and possible jail time instead of supportive services to assist them to leave a safer and less damaging lifestyle.

Prostitution is antithetical to all traditional indigenous values. The real problem here is that White liberals cannot understand that there is a huge gap between their values and ours. I'm not sure that so many white liberals support prostitution (I could be wrong).  Personally I do not support prostitution, however I do not support the criminalisation of prostitution simply because criminalisation of prostitution effectively removes the human rights of sex workers, makes them vulnerable to abuse and exploitation, and impedes their ability to seek recourse from the law should they become the victims of crime.

Just clarifying my own position on this issue.  ;)

I see tremendous parallels between the actions of Kamala Devi and the Rainbow family a couple of years ago regarding the Fonty Fox riots. I use the term LEO.  It is shorthand for law enforcement officer.  Does it have a different, more sinister, meaning?

You are right about these people being PR experts.  Some of the criminals involved in pseudo-tantric cults have backgrounds in the intelligence services, propaganda, marketing and even psychoanalysis. PR is something they are very, very good at.

That is really excellent news Rose.  The way in which Mooney casually and cynically lies about native spirituality and native people and exploits his lies to defend a criminal network is disgusting and outrageous.

I have a lot more to post about this issue, but am short of time, more soon.

I believe the liberal stance on prostitution is that what two adults choose to do is their own business. But not exactly support "prostitution" as it is, and believe that the underworld involved is because of it's illegality, much like drugs. There's millions to be made in a black market, but make it legal, and things may change. I know no liberals who believe in trafficking or, fraud. And I still don't know what the distinction is between white liberals and black liberals? As far as I know, liberals hold this view regardless of skin color. That's what makes them liberals.

Anyway..

I don't support the idea of selling ones body, but I don't believe it should be illegal between adults. That position on the issue makes me a liberal. I don't know of any liberals who agree that prostitution should be illegal (between adults) but none of them support it as a thing to do. I, however, understand that for some, they see it as the only way to feed their children.. and that is way sad. It makes them vulnerable to the cults and traffickers and everything else.

And who would say it's just not right

Yes critter, I think that most liberals are against legislation that criminalises the most vulnerable and oppressed people in communities, whether it is the criminalisation of prostitution or, say, the prohibition of drugs.

Criminals will always take advantage of is situations where vulnerable people are deprived of their human rights.

That is not to say that I support the legalisation of prostitution and those awful legal brothels in Nevada.  Such establishments represent the state sanctioned abuse of vulnerable women IMO.  I just believe that, where the law is concerned, what occurs between consenting adults in the privacy of their own homes is not the business of the state or law enforcement.

Having said all of that, I can imagine how infuriating it must be for Rose to encounter condescending white people trying to "educate" her about prostitution issues.  Most people, whatever their skin colour or background, are not well educated about issues re trafficking and exploitation and I know that I often feel frustrated by people's ignorance.  I can imagine how infuriating it must be for Rose to try to debate with someone who is not just ignorant about prostitution but who has also swallowed James Mooney's Kool Aid and as a result has racist fantasies about NDNs being supporting of prostitution.

just one more thing.....

I may have been a little unfair to Mr Nichols in relation to his criminal contacts.

While he undoubtedly enjoys friendships with senior MISA agents it is difficult to determine the state of his current relationships with members of the Russian network.

It seems that the Russians have been making contacts with various newage individuals and business in Sedona for some years.  While they definitely ran recruitment workshops at the Sedona temple (including one that was co-hosted by Crystal Dawn Morris), they also ran workshops at other Sedona locations and have been infiltrating the Sedona newage scene for years.

Nichols does have some agents of the Russian network on his FB page but these seem to be vulnerable young American women who have been recruited by the Russian network and not the senior members of the network who seem to be the ones pulling the strings.

I looked at the "testimonial" video (now removed from youtube) featuring an American young woman that has been recruited by the Russians.

In it she says that she was introduced to Universynergy Arts by "Master Perun and several other Universynergy Arts instructors".   She also says that since she started to train with them she has found a new energy that has enabled her to stop taking the anti-depressants, mood stabilisers and stimulants that she has been prescribed and has been dependent on for the last 10 years.

This very conventionally attractive young woman appeared somewhat manic and deluded in the video and was wearing sexually provocative clothing and make up.  She is clearly mentally challenged and extremely vulnerable.

This young woman (I will call her by her initial EM) has been involved in organising Universynergy Arts events on the meetup social networking website in the past.  I checked quickly yesterday and it seems that the role she plays at the moment is to be one of the "students" at meetup events - that is to say someone who praises the senior teachers and encourages new members to get involved.  Just want to point out that when THB networks organise recruitment workshops and retreats any new recruits will be in a minority.  They will be surrounded by people who are already recruited and who all endorse Universynergy Arts and EM will be one of those people.

Anyway, I digress....

In 2010 (approx 1 year ago) EM's "testimonial video" was uploaded onto youtube as a Universynergy Arts PR video.  Sometime very recently it was removed and the account hosting it closed down.

After the brothel raids the new video of EM, this one praising Tracy Elise and the PGT, appeared.

EM is FB friends with other Universynergy Arts agents, VIPs and vulnerable American recruits (including the young female recruits who are FB friends with Nichols).

EM is not a FB friend of Dez Nichols, Tracy Elise, Wayne Clayton or anyone else that I know of connected to the Sedona or Phoenix "temples".

EM lives and works in New York.  Like most agents of the Russian network she probably travels around a fair bit but even so I am struggling to understand why a vulnerable, deluded, brainwashed young woman who spends all her time promoting Universynergy Arts and she appears to not have any strong links to the PGT should suddenly appear in a youtube video supporting Tracey Elise.

hmmmm

something concerning has happened

Quote
A BENEFIT TO FREE THE SEDONA 18
Recently, the Phoenix Arizona police raided the Phoenix Goddess Temple. Whether or not you approve of how the temple ran its business, they deserve the best possible legal defense - and we'd like to help by creating an event that will generate contributions for their collective legal fund. The event we propose is Cuddle Across America - where people across the country produce cuddle gatherings that interlink - and all proceeds will be donated to their legal fund. One idea is to include iPads running FaceTime in each of the venues, so all the snugglefests are interlinked over the Internet. Our goal is to host 50 such events, simultaneously, across the country with 50 attendees each, donating or sponsoring $20 for each attendee... to raise a $50,000 legal fund. What better way to raise donations for this cause than snuggling and making out!

The founder of the temple, Tracy Elise, has stated:

"The Mystic Sisters of the Phoenix Goddess Temple serve our world and our community through a Sacred Labor of Love. We are an ordained sisterhood, having dedicated our lives, fortunes and soul/body to walk on earth as the in-formed wisdom and grace of Mother of All. We are in 'right livelihood' as our work expands happiness and connection to soul. We cultivate and celebrate the ensouling of light in physical form. We believe our temple to be an island of light where all are self-sovereign in their own bodies, all are guardians of their own thoughts and feelings, not to be put upon by others. We are a not-for-profit free church; our wealth does not accrue to one person or for-profit business concern, but rather to our mission of furthering the Goddess presence on Earth."

It's going to be a long and protracted legal battle, and if you're inclined to support this cause and participate in the Cuddle Across America event, register below for more info as it's produced... expect it to happen in a month or two!

If you'd like contribute right away to the legal fund, you can do so by going to www.templeoftantra.org. Look for the Paypal Donate button, and designate that the funds should go to the Phoenix Goddess Temple fund. If you're a regular cuddle event producer, please contact us directly at hope (at) thespiritualitynetwork.com.

Sending a ray of hope and light to Tracy, Wayne, Niki and all the other lightworkers caught in this act of religious persecution.

Now what really concerns me is that the website on which this event is advertised, thespiritualitynetwork.com, is one of a number of websites owned by a man called Moses Ma.  Moses Ma is also the owner of tantricnews.com and co-owner of onetantra.com

Moses Ma is a marketing specialist with many fingers in various pseudo-tantric pies.

The editorial team at tantricnews.com includes some interesting people linked to both the Sedona and Phoenix brothels.

But what most interests and concerns me about Moses Ma is this
Quote

Again, all without spending a penny in advertising! With this operating manual as a guide, you will be able to replicate the success of our flagship offering.

About Social Broadcasting
Social broadcasting is our secret sauce. It's a critical mechanism to influence and drive every dimension of business. As you chart your journey into the realm of social broadcasting and social media, you need to fully comprehend the many nuances and complexities you are bound to confront along the way. Thus, we balance our focus on quick-hit profitability and payback, but not at the expense of long-term viability and growth, with an eye toward avoiding shortcomings that can compromise your efforts. Though its growth has been rapid, social broadcasting is very new. The time is right to get in on the ground floor.

Our Principles
We are founded on four core values: Openness, Teamwork, Loving Kindness, and Business Wisdom, that is instilled within every project.

Openness: We will be open and honest with our team, our partners, our customers and everyone else we can.
Teamwork: The Spirituality Network was founded on the idea of diversity enabled by teamwork, in order to create solutions that meet and exceed our customers' expectations. It’s our teamwork that makes us able to provide a single-source engineering resource.
Loving Kindness: We believe that the true base for customer service should be loving kindness, which drives our desire to provide the best services, products, and solutions to our customers. We are always willing to go the extra mile, feeling what they feel, but always concerned more about their evolution than our personal gain.
Business wisdom: Most engineering firms design and prototype with blinders on. They see nothing other than the actual project at hand. Our designers look beyond the basic design to find a solution that will enable you to start up and achieve profitability quickly, yet also provide a realistic vision for a long term success.

So if this sounds right to you and you feel it's time for you to grab a piece of the future, drop us a line and we'll send you a full package describing the possibilities and potential for social networking in the future.

http://www.spiritualitynetwork.onetantra.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=61&Itemid=62

Now the above could simply be an example of a newage entrepreneur developing revenue streams  in relation to social networking, however the "Business wisdom" element sounds very much like the Russian network's "Business Magic" multi-level marketing schemes. Basically they work like this:

A newage entrepreneur has developed a new newage product or service, let's say "psychic pet communication" (PPC).  The Russians say "Your PPC workshops compliment our human psychic development workshops, why don't we work together?  You can organise workshops for us and attend them free and learn our ancient wisdom free of charge.  You get to sell our books and DVDs and you get commission, plus for any people you refer to our retreats and intensives we will pay you 10% (or whatever) of their fees, plus you get a 10% (or whatever) reduction on our retreat fees for each person you get to sign up.  If you sign up 10 people you  get to attend free! if it works well then we may consider investing capital in your business and helping you to expand and grow."

In this way the Russian criminals recruit victims, spread their poisonous activities and also, if things go well, get to use a variety of business fronts for money laundering and other criminal activities.

I am not entirely sure what Moses Ma is up to but he has a load of extremely dodgy friends and associates and anyone signing up for these cuddle parties will be leaving their email address with a very dubious individual.

Anyone taking advantage of the networking opportunities will be entrusting not only their own contact details, but those of their online friends and associates with an extremely dubious person with many dodgy and criminal contacts and associates.  I mean MM even offers the "opportunity" to make use of his very own social networking Iphone app.  the potential for abuse is huge.

I don't know if people in the US or other territories outside the UK can view this video on Channel 4, but if they can it might be worth watching.

The programme is called "Dawn does Free Love" and is a record of Brit celeb Dawn Porter as she explores the world of polyamory.

The blurb says ....

Quote
Dawn immerses herself in the world of polyamory - or free love. Not quite ready to settle down with one man, Dawn is curious to find out what it is like to live in a relationship but share partners freely.

Her journey begins in San Diego, California where a husband and wife run a free love school to open people up to the idea of polyamory. Dawn experiments with role playing and physical group exercises, before finishing off with a frank, fact-finding session in the school hot tub.

Next it's off to Germany were Dawn visits Zegg, a 1960s style commune isolated in former East Germany, where members live a polyamorous, utopian lifestyle. Idyllic on the surface, Dawn digs deeper to discover the cost of free love - fear of abandonment, jealousy, competition - and meets some of its victims.

Obviously the programme contains adult themes and is NSFW

you can see it (or not) here
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/dawn-porter-extreme-wife/4od#2918287

At the time of writing this there are 5 days left to watch this, so if you are interested check it out soon

The interesting thing about the programme is that Dawn visits the home of Kamal Devi and shows her lifestyle and relationships.  At the time the programme was made (it was broadcast in September 2009) Kamala Devi (the person championing various "support the Phoenix Temple" initiatives) was in a 3 way poly-amorous relationship with her husband, Dez Nichols and some other guy.

Just thought I would mention this as it is sometimes not really possible to establish clearly the nature of people's relationships simply by checking out social networking and other websites.  The programme throws some light on the nature of the relationship between Kamala Devi and Baba Dez Nichols.  It also includes footage of a large group event at Kamala Devi's home, with plenty of clear footage of their friends and associates.

Just sharing

Please accept my apologies if anyone has already posted this stuff - search comes up with nothing but I know that search can sometimes be a little creaky.... anyway, here goes

It would appear that "Baba" Dez Nichols' International School of Temple Arts (ISTA) is representing itself as being part of James Mooney's fake Native American church, presumably so they can attempt to represent their activities as authentically native and thus argue that they are entitled to special rights and privileges.

Probably best to use a proxy to check out this website, which appears to be a joint enterprise between the fake tantric temple and the fake Native American church.

An Oklevueha Native American Church Authorized Participant Card is not necessarily a membership card, for what other religion has a card to prove they are a member of a particular faith? In the same vain of thought, what church has a federal exemption to utilize controlled substances for their Sacrament? NONE - However, three higher courts unanimous decisions of the United States, including the U.S. Supreme Court, make it very clear and concise that any and all government agencies of the United States have ‘no legal authority’ to influence any church with it’s ideology (by-laws) or limit the participation of a churches religious practices based on race (American Native) or political affiliation (Federally Recognized Tribes) or deny access to American Native Indigenous Sacred Ceremonial grounds. As a matter of law, the United States governments are to protect these constitutional rights. These unanimous rulings state very clearly that all members of ‘any’ federally recognized tribe and/or ‘members’ of a bona fide Native American Church have the constitutional rights and protection to worship with any and all earth based Sacraments. Sacred Sexual Healing
A note on laying on of hands for healing:

The Holy Anointing Ceremony - Indigenous Medicine People and Ancient Temple Healers have traditionally used the natural power of touch to accomplish healing, empowerment and connection to the Divine.

Throughout history and today somatic healers utilize the effects of touch with the essences of plants, oils and herbs on the body, mind and emotions.  They utilize touch and fragrance of seeds, roots, barks, flowers and leaves in ritual healing, transformation and sacrament as a direct path to the Divine.

In sacred sexuality there are four types of sexual healing; procreation, recreation, restoration and transformation.  Sacred Sexual Healers are gifted in balancing energies in each of these areas resulting in the wholistic well-being of their subjects.

Holy Anointing with the use of oils, fragrances and plants has been used in most religions from ancient times to now,  This can take on a variety of forms, including healing touch.

1.  Sanctification & Ordination
2. Death or Disease Clearing
3. Sacrament of Chrism
4. Laying on of Hands for the Dwelling of Spirit
5. Restoration and Healing Touch
6. Transformation and Transmutation

It seems that the Phoenix Goddess Temple has recruiters making the rounds in or around colleges and universities -

Aspects of Living at a Goddess Temple - Trent Millet

Aime "Trent" Millet was honored to reside at, serve and be a student and practitioner at the Phoenix Goddess Temple. A true church dedicated to woman's wholeness as nourisher, healer, rebirther and Goddess in companionship with God. As our high Priestess says "Our God is a happy God, he has someone to rub his shoulders, listen to him and it hasn't been 2 thousand years since he's had sacred union". Goddess! Seriously though residing at and serving this Goddess Temple was the most sacred encounter with a universal healing and renewal field I ever encountered. This will be a sharing with feedback to contemplate the meaning of that kind of encounter!
A block of fun!

Chasing a Good Day to Die
American Native Spirituality has historically utilized Grandmother Earth's minerals and plants to commune with the spirit world to assist their healing and personal empowering ceremonies.

This film essay is dedicated to the Native Americans who persevered to keep their ceremonies alive and to those who have been blessed to share them with non-natives.  It is a narrative about a man who set out to heal his son and found beautiful beings transformed along the path circling back to self.

Indigenous Peoples Spirituality has been practiced in North and South America before recorded history.  The fundamental premise of all indigenous spirituality is to honor and respect Grandmother Earth, Grandfather Sky and all of their descendants.

The practicing of American Native Indigenous Spirituality is understood off and on Federally Recognized Indian Reservations, as the Native American Church, which has been granted exclusive federal laws to recognize the Spiritual Ceremonies and to protect and maintain access to their Sacred Ceremonial Grounds.

The only review of the film is pretty terrible.

----------
http://www.ericdsnider.com/movies/chasing-a-good-day-to-die/
....Is "Chasing a Good Day to Die" a fascinating documentary? Heavens, no. It is slow and sleepy and uncompelling.

It was made by Paul Larsen, who tells his own story of finding a new lease on life through Mooney's spiritual group. You don't know he's telling his own story, though, because he doesn't put his name on the screen under his picture. He doesn't do this with anyone else, either, so you never know who anyone is. You hear him referred to as "Paul," and the closing credits indicate that someone named "Paul Larsen" wrote and directed the documentary, and so you put two and two together. Telling us participants' names must be taught on the first day of Documentary Making 101; Larsen must have missed that day.

Larsen is his own worst enemy here, as his narration is dull and unenthusiastic. Getting people to care about a stranger's problems is already an uphill battle, and surely his flat way of speaking does not help.

His next-best chance at gaining viewer interest would be to show us something genuinely fascinating or unfamiliar. The Indian ceremonies could qualify, since most viewers are unacquainted with them despite living in such geographical proximity to the practitioners. Again, here Larsen fails. A few sequences work -- the "sweat lodge" experience, for example -- but for the most part, little is done to bring us into the ceremonies or the reasons behind them. The rituals no doubt have helped people emotionally and spiritually, and some of those people (without names, of course) testify to that fact in the film. But Larsen's lifeless style of filming and editing do not make it interesting.

Grade: C

Rated PG, very mild profanity and some drug use

The film maker, Larsen, is listed as a Mormon professor.

Paul Larsen
Latter-day Saint. Lives in Utah. Larsen made the first-person documentary, "Chasing a Good Day to Die" (2002), which chronicles his personal journey, when a search for a cure for his teen son's depression led him to the "Medicine Path" of American Indian peyote ceremonies. The film was shown at the 2002 Sunstone Symposium in Salt Lake City, Utah on 9 August 2002 as part of a session called "Mormon Films." It was listed in the schedule with the description, "Learn about the power of Native American healing ceremonies in one Latter-day Saint's life." Larsen gave a presentation at the 3rd LDS Film Festival, held in Provo/Orem, Utah in January 2004, during which he talked about spiritual aspects of storytelling and the importance of writing personal stories. His film "Chasing a Good Day to Die" was also screened during the festival. From his faculty bio http://www.film.utah.edu/larsen.html

The trailer is dire

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4TjFCcE9Tk

The description of Mooney as a renegade instead of a fraud and ceremony seller is especially galling.

The thing that most angers me about this screening is that the goal is to consolidate the "brand" of the Sedona Temple (newage brothel) as a Native American owned and supported entity, whereas nothing could be further from the truth.

Native people and other people with a discerning nature are deeply offended by the combination of ceremony selling and prostitution all of which are just exploitative, criminal businesses disguised as something spiritual.

Really. So, those who take these ceremonies and share them with non-natives are 'blessed'?
So, all of you who don't share with us non-natives, are not blessed.
I guess people like me are so worthy and wonderful that to share with us blesses you. huh.
Never knew that.  :-\  ::)

I just wanted to share this video of Wayne Clayton of the PGT talking about his "work".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8eajlwJ_vA

The video is hosted on one of Dez Nichols's channels

Basically Claytons claims that most of his clients are women who have been sexually or otherwise abused and that recently he's been seeing more patients with cancer, MS and other serious illnesses.  He claims to cure them via intimate, internal massage and, in the Phoenix New Times article, he claimed that he had made a woman's breast grow back after a mastectomy.

Remember this is a guy who is facing charges of illegal control of enterprise, maintaining a house of prostitution, pandering, receiving earnings of prostitution, and conspiracy of illegal control of enterprise.

I just wonder how many abused and seriously ill women he has "treated" via his "massages"?

There is an hour long radio interview re the PGT and an interview with "Mystic Mother" Tracey Elise here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dLtOctbbwU&feature=related

I have so far only listened to the first 15 minutes but astonishingly Ms Elise is comparing the struggle for recognition of religious status of the PGT with the struggle of the Church of Scientology to be recognised as a religion.

I wonder if she knows that the Co$ is being investigated by the FBI for trafficking in human beings?

Links re the Co$ and the THB allegations and investigation

shocking video with victim testimonies

26 page report in the New Yorker (v interesting piece, the reporting of THB allegations start on page 14)

It's ironic that she is allying herself and the PGT with the "struggle" of the Co$ given the THB investigation into the Co$.

The Phoenix Goddess Temple has branched out to San Diego, California, run by Kamala Devi. She states in her videoblog on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/blisscoach), her associations with Tracy Elises as a student, friend, and supporter. Kamala Devi has been fundraising for Tracy Elises' legal fees since the FBI shut the 'temple' down in September 2011 for operating a house of prostitution.

Here is a Youtube link to Kamala Devi rallying for financial support of Tracy Elises who was 'arrested again':

Elises, an associate of James "Flaming Eagle" Mooney, is the Phoenix Goddess Temple "temple mother". Kamala Devi is also an associate of James "Flaming Eagle" Mooney. Through Mooney's Oklevueha Native American Church, these Goddess Temples have been "blessed" and qualify for tax exempt statuses as "religious institutions".

James "Flaming Eagle" Mooney is founder of the plastic shaman cult, Native American Church, to which he has blessed for a $2,500 fee, the Phoenix Goddess Temple, and in San Francisco, an offshoot of Native American Church called Medicine Path led by Jewish psychologists, George Bertelstein and Jeff Wright. Of the latter, Medicine Path offers "sacred ceremonies" which include sweat lodges and peyote peace pipe for a $450 fee. Of note, Medicine Path Native American Church attests that Barrett Eagle Bear is their "medicine woman" and members are encouraged to support her financially, take $4,500 trips to Peru guided by don Victor Estrada Cervantes... Dez Nichols's International School of Temple Arts (ISTA) is holding a conference in Sedona in may 2012 on "sacred Indian grounds"

According to the website here
http://schooloftemplearts.org/events?subEventID=186&eventID=19

speakers include
Annie Sprinkle - porn star friend of Harley Reagan
Charles Muir - creepy cult leader with his own school of "tantra" - his FB friends list is bursting with pimps, traffickers and "tantric temples"
Robert Silber - never heard of him before now - however I notice with interest that his workshops is "a hands on demonstration that involves nudity and genital contact. "
James Warren Flaming Eagle Mooney - founder of a fake native American church and peyote dealer (see thread in Frauds)
Crystal Dawn Morris - "breathwork" therapist - v involved in both the Sedona and Phoenix Goddess "temples" with many THB contacts
Kamala Devi - activist and fund-raiser supporting the PGT and SD, also a "sacred sexual healer"
"Bearcloud" - pretendian long time supporter of the PGT and SD, also involved in the "Star Nation", crystal skulls, UFOs etc
Janet and Sasha Lessin - extremely dodgy psychotherapists with their own school of "tantra" and many friends and associates involved in THB

There are other presenters also, although the page is under construction so not all of the bios are up yet

I have no idea if the "Indian sacred grounds" they are holding this events on are real or some fake sacred grounds, either way it sucks

Charles Muir
Founder of Source School of Tantra Yoga
Charles Muir is considered the originator and Pioneer of the Modern Tantra Movement in the United States. In 1980, he originated the Tantra: The Art of Conscious Loving® format, Sacred Spot Massage, and many other inventive experiential exercises, which have become the cornerstones in the curriculum of most Tantra educators. In addition to Red Tantra practices, Charles teaches a powerful method of White Tantra, or Laya Yoga, which is the grandfather of Hatha Yoga, with extended holds, meditation, and chakra focus. Its gentle-on-the-body approach is relaxing and revitalizing, and awakens consciousness quickly.

Charles has authored two Tantra books, two Tantra Training DVDs, three White Tantra CDs, and five Red Tantra CDs. His work has been featured in over fifty media articles, numerous radio and television appearances (most recently on Oprah), and two Hollywood feature movies, Bliss and The Best Ever. He is currently working on several new books in his Tantra: The Art of Conscious Loving series; the newest is Sacred Sexual Awakenings, which is a comprehensive compilation of over five hundred testimonials and case histories of lives transformed through attending his seminars.

Annie Sprinkle
Annie Sprinkle, Ph.D. was a prostitute and porn star who became a sacred sex student/teacher, a pioneer in the sex-positive movement, and an internationally acclaimed performance artist. Sprinkle has spread her message of “let there be pleasure on Earth and let it begin with me” in hundreds of publications, documentary films and TV shows, including four HBO’s Real Sex specials. She is best known for her one-woman theater pieces, where she performed her “Public Cervix Announcements,” and her “Legend of the Ancient Sacred Prostitute,” a tantric-sex-magic-masturbation-ritual, on stages in nineteen countries. She has authored five books including Dr. Sprinkle’s Spectacular Sex and Metamorphosex. Her Sluts & Goddesses workshops are legendary. Sprinkle has produced and starred in her own brand of “feminist post porn” films, including Rites of Passion and Amazing World of Orgasm. For the last twelve years, Annie has been collaborating with her life partner, Elizabeth Stephens. When they married the Earth, they found themselves shifting the metaphor from “Earth as mother” to “Earth as lover,” and came out as avowed ecosexuals. Today they are committed to making the environmental movement more sexy, fun and diverse, and turning people on to the eroticism of nature. Annie Sprinkle’s career in sex has spanned four decades and she says, “My best is yet to come!”

Post by: Defend the Sacred on August 26, 2012, 08:42:44 pm
The Sundance Channel (associated with Robert Redford's film festival, not the sacred ceremony) on cable has been showing a documentary about Dez Nichols and his associates, from 2010, called "Manifesting Maya". A number of the people discussed in this thread appear in it, complete with glassy-eyed defenses of what he and the women at his home do for money. We see a bit of the European trips, a conference with other newage pimps and prostituted people, and lots of shouting, newage encounter-group type "therapy". I don't think any of these people are certified as psychologists or social workers.

Trigger warning and Note to anyone checking it out: Film contains a great deal of full frontal nudity and non-simulated sex. Women talk about being abused while Nichols does things to them sexually. It's not hardcore pornography, but there is frequent footage of glassy-eyed white newagers having sex for money, interspersed with a lot of newage bafflegab, including Nichols trying to do "sex magic" with a series of different women in order to interfere with the free will of a woman who left him and manipulate this ex-lover (also a prostituted woman) into returning to him. At one point one of the newage women confronts him for being a sexual predator who manipulates his therapy clients into having sex with him, abusing his position to convince the women they need to gratify his sexual needs in order to be healed.

Many of the newagers have pretendian bling in their homes, cars, and brothels: feathers, painted buffalo skulls, etc. Before some of the people have sex for money they say things about "The Great Spirit" and "The Great Mystery". They take some of their clients to what are allegedly sacred sites to have combination pay to pray and sex for money at these sites.

A number of them claim to be shamans, and they claim their made-up rituals are Tantra. Some of them have given themselves new names (or, perhaps the pimps and prostitutes versions of stripper names) from languages they obviously don't speak and that they can't even pronounce properly.  They misrepresent every culture and spiritual tradition they reference, everything is for sale, and they call themselves by all sorts of honorifics from cultures they have no understanding of.

ETA: Offensive photo of pretendian ceremony on Dez Nichols' site: http://schooloftemplearts.org/photos/history-baba-dez-friends--family/friends-and-family-40jpg?photo=1690

ETAA: I should have gotten a screen grab of that photo as they've removed it now. It was in a slide show, and it was him pretending to do pipe ceremony. Or something. There was a fake pipe involved.

A google image search on "baba dez" didn't bring up the photo, but there are, um, others.

Update on the prostitution trial:

This is the "church" who were cited as supporting/endorsing the Phoenix Goddess Temple, whose founder was convicted of running a brothel.

The links in the previous post are gone. I recently found this, it seems to fit here?

'International' in ISTA has here changed to 'Indigenous'. Is this ISTA something new, something else, something different from the 'old' ISTA?:

We refer our members to medicine people in their preferred practices, and respect all ancient wisdoms without discrimination. Based on your membership status we find most medicine people willing to invite you in, but the decision rests solely with their spirit connection to you.

Our private membership association is a good place for those who wish to conduct their local practice with the fullest protection for their sovereign rights and to have a resource if the law decides to poke their noses into your beliefs/business.  Besides the unique benefits of ONAC rights both Federally and State by State, the private membership gives added protection from interference as long as there is no evidence of clear danger or substantial evil.

We have been in the front lines of members who have faced zoning & permitting threats,  illegal search & seizure, illegal raids on our churches and incarceration for misappropriated charges.
