Title: Australia: the Andrew Bolt defamation trial
Post by: MsWilma on April 04, 2011, 09:45:40 pm
Hi,
posting a link here to an analysis of a trial of a journo getting a lot of attention here in Australia.
Andrew Bolt writes deliberately inflammatory opinion pieces for a conservative ( and in my opinion, racist) paper in Melbourne.
He's been taken to trial by several high profile indigenous Australians, who he claims 'dont look aboriginal enough' to identify as aboriginal. He wrote a series of articles 'naming and shaming' these individuals.
The trial continues. I may continue posting links to the ongoing debate on this thread:

Andrew Bolt has been found guilty of breaching the Racial Discrimination Act, over 2 articles he wrote in 2009, in which he claimed light skinned Aborigines identified as indigenous for personal gain.
