They also make that claim on several message boards. No evidence for it. They don't show up anywhere on the UN website. I think they showed up outside the UN and asked to be heard and the UN sent somebody out to talk. I don't see them showing anywhere in the huge numbers of reports and consultations the UN has over indigenous issues.

They specifically state in their news release that they are an IGO (Intergovernmental Organization) and not an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization, so they are really saying that they are equal to the United Nations and were recognized by the United Nations (as another United Nations???) That seems pretty convoluted to me. :o :o

So, then, they were originally one of the founding members of the UN, but then they decided to not be a member of the UN, so that they could be their own UN and were recognized by the UN as another UN???
