Inti is an Indian from Peru, who has extensively travelled the world. He is a Shaman, a Healer, and Musician as well as a Spiritual Teacher. Inti following his vision, travelled across South, North and Central America as well as India, gathering knowledge and wisdom that he shares with us in his workshops. He went to the rainforests of Ecuador, Columbia and Brazil where Shaman's from local tribes led him into their secrets, such as the uses of natural medicines, their applications and how they are administered. Some time later, following the call of his second vision, Inti travelled to India, where he lived for 10 years with a Brahmin family. There he studied the disciplines of Meditation, Yoga and Philosophy in great depth.

Inti spreads his message at Vision Quests, Private Sessions and Intensive Shamanic Training, Sacred Journeys (Pilgrimages) and of course through his workshops. He reminds us to appreciate the beauty of the Earth, that we are part of the Earth and Earth is not part of us. When we make the connection with Mother Earth we will find our path to make an inner connection with ourselves, and who we truly are.

Inti also learnt how to play traditional Indian music. He studied with teachers all over the world enabling him to combine all of his skills. Of course, Inti's skills are many and they vary considerably. Some were handed down from his own people, the Incas, others he acquired from the North America Indians. (He also prepares sacred medicine bags for individuals - depending on their needs.) Inti likes to share his spiritual knowledge with as many people as he can reach by travelling across the world....

A Mexican shaman, Don Juan Carlos Castaneda´s teacher became well known in the mid-seventies. He made Western people rethink about their reality.
At the same time, Inti, an Indian man of Peru, traveled through old and new cultures, collecting knowledge and educating himself as a traveler between worlds. Following his vision he traveled through North, South and Central America and India, always looking for the secrets of human beings. Today he unifies the knowledge of these old cultures with his deep love for Mother Earth, which he brings closer to us human beings with his workshops, concerts and consultations.

....The sweat lodge for example, a cleaning and healing ceremony, has been used by the cultures of North and South America as well as in Northern Europe and far into the East, to start the transformation process and to regain health. It is also an important part of the "workshop of an peaceful warrior".

....With his work Inti supports others. The school-home that founded on the Island of Amantani on Lake Titicaca, Peru, makes it possible to give nutritional meals and education to the poorest children of the region. In this project the children learn again to live with the wonders of their culture.

------------------

Aside from the patronizing super spirchul tone of the bio, some things stand out. Endorsement of Castaneda, mix of Hindu ideas, using what seem like North American NDN traditions like sweats just because they sell well with outsiders. A lot of what he does is pitched to sell to what will appeal to Nuagers, selling workshops in twink central places like Glastonbury. Even a workshop in the US called "The Red Warrior" where they go to Sedona to "be in touch with the vortex energy."

Above all, no specific tribe or people named except "Inca".

Looking at the photos on the site, I wonder if the local people put up with him just because he actually does put money back into the community. Or if he's aware of what's being said or done in his name. I haven't found any online criticism of him so far.

Malasquez has been touring Europe and Asia for a long time now, as a musician, but also doing workshops, seminars, sweatlodges, and ceremonies  as a shame-on. I found his name in several variations, like Malasques, Melasquez, and even Malaches.

Malasquez also does not happen to be too specific about his ethnic affiliation other than 'Inca'. He may trust that it is not too widely known in Europe that the term Inca only applies to the nobility of the Incan empire, but not to an ethnic group.

This is taken from his own website (original English version):

Inti Cesar Malasquez - Son of the sun
Biography

Inti is an Indian from Peru, who has extensively travelled the world. He is a Shaman, a Healer, and Musician as well as a Spiritual Teacher. Inti following his vision, travelled across South, North and Central America as well as India, gathering knowledge and wisdom that he shares with us in his workshops.

(He also prepares sacred medicine bags for individuals - depending on their needs.) Inti likes to share his spiritual knowledge with as many people as he can reach by travelling across the world. His mission is to remind humanity of their deep-rooted connection to Mother Earth. This is also clearly stated in his music and at his workshops.
[...]

With old healing techniques and the Indian rituals, Western people have the possibility to contact their inner needs. The sweat lodge for example, a cleaning and healing ceremony, has been used by the cultures of North and South America as well as in Northern Europe and far into the East, to start the transformation process and to regain health. It is also an important part of the "workshop of an peaceful warrior".

In the Indian world a warrior is abeing with responsibility, strength and self-awareness that is connected to all living beings and Mother Earht. Days of fasting and silence, physical training and the drumming and singing of the Indian prayers make it easier to be a peaceful warrior during the present time.

With his work Inti supports others. The school-home that founded on the Island of Amantani on Lake Titicaca, Peru, makes it possible to give nutritional meals and education to the poorest children of the region. In this project the children learn again to live with the wonders of their culture: living in harmony with nature, rotation of crops, and organic handling of the soil to save the food supply and to avoid erosion of the land as well as large migrations to the cities.

Here is what he writes about this school project, although the text mentions they opened nothing more than a kindergarden up to now:

http://www.inti-shaman.com/en/amantani.html

Quote
If you wish to sponsor a child, please contact Mrs Rhada Malasquez. With sponsoring a child you will be aiding this child's education and food for one year. The Amantani organisers will send you a photograph of your child and keep you informed of his or her progress.
If you are unable to afford sponsoring a child any donation will be gratefully received and will help run the school and education program in Amantani. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Mrs. Ananda Gopal Malasquez gives us a brief summary of life on the Island of Amantani:

Please also note that the term 'non-profit' does not get mentioned once in connection with this project.
Apparently, things are also kept in the family – take due note of the surnames of the ladies mentioned: Ms Rhada Malasquez and Ms Ananda Gopal Malasquez who seems to be from India, judging by her name.

However, while a non-profit status is not claimed for a community kindergarten for poor ndn children ™, the term does pop up in Malasquez' description of his spiritual centre:

The Vision

Son of the Sun
SON OF THE SUN is a non-profit organization, which was founded by Inti in 1986 and is dedicated to teaching the esoteric knowledge of ancient cultures that know how to celebrate life and live in harmony with Mother Earth.

INTI CESAR MALASQUEZ is a spiritual teacher, healer, Shaman and a gifted musician. He was born in Peru, and has travelled the world for 38 years. He has drawn on his extensive travels learning from other healers, from his own people to Native Americans and spent 10 years in India learning with his Brahman teacher.
Now Inti travels throughout the world sharing his knowledge, celebrating and strengthening humanities deep-rooted connection to Mother Earth through his inspiring workshops, vision quests, lectures, sacred journeys, Centres and individual counselling.

Channeling
This message has been told by the ancient Master of Light from the Titicaca Lake’s Temples and by the Healing Goddess of Light ‘Taki-Ami’ from Machu Picchu.
‘In time of spiritual chaos and decadence on Earth, the Warrior Spirit of light and the Goddess Taki-Ami will be incarnated in the mind and soul of people with the mission to save this planet and work to realize the mission to rebuild the Rainbow’s Temple of Brother and Sisterhood.

In this Rainbow Temple the Goddess ‘Taki-Ami’ will place the sacred crystal of pure and transparent light. It is said that this crystal was placed in one of the Temples from the seven sisters from the Pleiades. These seven rays of positive light will help to unblock all obstacles and help the energy of love in the mind and souls of Human Beings on this Earth to flow.

This sacred crystal has the power to help to reconnect, tune up and to recharge the inner light of the soul and reactivate the vortex energy of the ‘wheeling chakras’. It is said that the Divine Mother of the Universe gave to Taki-Ami the sacred crystal to bring to Earth to transform negative into positive energy and shift the energy from the Himalayas to the Andes.

This Divine incarnated spirit and her magic Crystal healing chose the Sacred Valley of the Incas ‘Urubamba’ as the place where the Rainbow’s Temple will be rebuilt and the sacred crystal will be placed.
The Rainbow’s Temple will be a school of life and spirit, where all warrior’s of light and spiritual healers will gather together to share the abundant wisdom. It will bring about reconciliation of nature and spirit and help reconnect with the Akasha, (the hard disc of human being history) and life force. A place to preserve and be ready to prepare the road for the new warrior of light who's mission will be to spread the message of light and love for this planet and to rebuild the Earth with future cities of spiritual light. These rebuilt cites of light will manifest Temples of love and light, where all beings of all creed, religion, colour and culture will migrate to recharge their soul so they can return to walk in beauty and on the right trail to find the essence of their own being.

Priestess Taki-Ami already initiated many souls on Earth and in the Cosmic realm. Taki -Ami will come to you in dreams and in visions to give you a message for your mission in life. She told us to be ready to keep the spiritual light of hope for the present and future generations. She told us that the Andes Mountains would be a witness of a development of a new future spiritual consciousness.

The Andes is the female, Goddess ‘Yin’ energy, Nature, one that nourishes her children, just as the Himalayas, Mount Kailash is the Male, God ‘Yang’ energy, the light that nourishes mankind’s souls.
Taki-Ami told us that this first Temple that is being built on the sacred Valley of Urubamba will be affected with the inflow of Cosmic energy and out flow of earthly energy. She told us that between these two currents of energy, those Masters of Light and healers from other dimensions will descend on this Earth and into the sanctuary of the City of Light with the purpose of inspiring the heart and souls of all men and women whose love and desire is to live in peace with nature and in respect with the ‘Giver of Life’ the Creator. These spirits will remind us of the already forgotten ancient wisdom, of the future.

The Centre or the City of the Future, will be built using the sacred and universal measurements, as were the pyramids of Egypt, Stonehenge and other buildings on the seven Chakras of this planet. It will be the Solar system and the pathway of all coming generations, to learn from the Master builder how to use the law of rhythm, angles, astronomy forms to rebuild symmetrically and design Temples of Light.

The Centre will be a place where you will be living life ‘here and now’ and where you learn to see the night as day and the day as night. As we live life here with our body in nature and live life ‘there’ in the cosmic with our soul, integrated into one being, connected to the divine giver of life. We will walk the path of beauty on Earth to complete our mission and reach the cycle of our souls, in this eternal wheel of life and death.

In a further description, Melasquez mixes some bits of indigenous spirituality with lots taken from India:

http://www.inti-shaman.com/en/the-centre.html

Quote
Why we are building this Centre?
Because we believe this is a Centre for learning and preserving the ancient wisdom from the Native people from ’Pacha Mama, Mother Earth’. A place where people come to be healed using the natural medicine from the Amazon Rain Forest and the Andes Mountains. Where yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, Massage, Prana breathing, nutrition and Alternative medicine, will be practiced and Ceremonies will be performed linking us to the highest Spirits. We intend to help young local people to keep their hopes high teaching carpentry, stone masonry, iron art, jewellery craft, language and computer studies, free of charge.

Life there is surrounded by natural beauty, electricity, free running water and where we will cultivate our own food.
It is a centre for you, for me and for many others whose goals are to master themselves and who wish to live in balance and search for the highest knowledge and wisdom.

All religion, creed and philosophy will meet here to share, respect and love those others who are searching for the same goals, to integrate with the almighty force ‘The Great Spirit’.

The Centre will be a creative place where you will find happiness and joy and experience the correct flow of ‘Chi’ or Prana energy.

Our Centre and Our school where we share, teach and learn, creating and paving the road for our children and future generations. It is a gathering of Light Workers and a place that will welcome all people throughout the world, as together we learn how to live in balance and walk in beauty on this Earth.

City of the Future
Is Inti’s vision. This centre is the platform for this dream to be realised, built in accordance with ‘Taki-Ami.’ instructions.

Here are more details about Melasquez' 'shamanic' work from his website:

http://www.inti-shaman.com/en/workshops.html

Quote
Workshops

This workshop reflects on the warrior within us. It will help us to connect with our innermost being so that we can become fearless and are able to access our love for creation and re-establish our connection and love for Mother Earth. Once we have connected with this awareness we then can transform our lives - and find our path, which we were destined to take before we actually re-incarnated on this planet.

During this workshop we forget our everyday lives and make contact with the energy of our inner warrior. Inti will lead and guide us through this process using his intuition, ancient traditional healing rituals and other shamanic techniques. He focuses on each individual enabling them to access a profound healing experience of their own.

A warrior must be fearless, watchful, respectful, strong, and self-conscious and he (she) must be connected to everything that is. He (she) will also have love for himself (herself) and of course a deep love for the world.
The ritual of the Sweat Lodge will be repeated several times. A few days of fasting and silence will become an integral part of this workshop. We will go through the process to search for a vision of our own. The sound of the Indian drums, prayers, songs and a lots of physical exercises will help us to prepare our path to become a peaceful warrior.

Being watchful and self-consciousness is the key for our inner self-development, there we will find where our real strength lies. The workshop is designed to bring us closer to our own reality.+

The shaman path of healing
Inti prefers to have a little group for this Intensive Shamanic Workshop. Indian ceremonies, prayers, physical exercises e.g. Yoga, sweat lodges and shamanic drumming will help us to prepare the path for our transformation.

We will be asked to let go of our everyday life and must dare to take a step back to find that essential part of our inner being. Inti, of course, will be our facilitator using his knowledge, love and intuition, helping us with our transformation, so we can become who we really are.

Healing - The Indian Way
Inti Cesar Malasquez is a shamanic healer, teacher and musician from Peru and he will share with us many healing techniques, ceremonies and his mystic knowledge, which he acquired from all over the world. Inti will begin his seminar with a Sweat lodge ceremony.

Indian Sweatlodge
A sweat lodge is a holy ceremony that brings forth a cleansing of the body, soul and spirit. Sweat lodges were used by ancient spiritually evolved civilisations to start off the healing process or sometimes to induce a pass over. The healing process begins when we all get involved in helping to prepare the sweat lodge. This will enable each and every one of us to make a deep inner connection with the Sweat Lodge itself. This ancient tradition allows us to die a "little death" in the womb of Mother Earth. By dying this little death" we will free ourselves from our past, and this makes us feel as if we are born again - born again in a spiritual way.
The ceremony in itself has four or five sections or partitions. Most people tolerate the heat in the sweat lodge far better than, for instance, the heat in a Sauna. Inti as usual will be helping each individual to achieve their desired transformation by accompanying us with his shamanic knowledge, his songs, his deep love that he has for Mother Earth and for each one of us.

He is the founder of the non-profit organisation „Sons and daughters of the Sun“ which aims at keeping the magic knowledge of the Andes and to share it with other peoples. In this film, Inti Cesar Melasquez does a complete Peruvian healing seance. The film offers the unique possibility to link into the healing initiation and take part in it.“

Here's the good news: the video is out of stock.

His help will not only emcompass life coaching, but also wholistic healing and spiritual leadership of the consultant. He will help to awake the inner power and to make the sun in yourself shine again.“

From the same site, a somewhat different bio of Malasquez. As that entry was done several years ago, he may have dropped claiming his parents were shame-ons, too, as this bio says:

Quote
Inti César Malasquez
is a traditional Inca shaman and spiritual teacher. He sees his task in spreading the spiritual knowledge of the Incas and that of other peoples. His message to us is to strengthen and to celebrate our very own link to mother earth. People must open their eyes to be able to see again the vision of their universal heritage.

Inti's parents worked as healers and passed their knowledge to their son. Thus he grew up in the tradition of the Incas and administers their mental and traditional heritage. At various stations of his life, he was given visions, which made him travel the whole world. Following his first vision, he crossed South, Middle, and North America. In the rain forests of Ecuador, Columbia, and Brazil, he learned the medicine of various tribes. In his second vision, he studied meditation, yoga and traditional music in India where he lived for ten years with a Brahmin family. In these times of wandering and search, he was revealed many secrets by observation and meditation. His broad experience allows him today to take up the knowledge of ancient cultures as well as the spiritual teachings of Indian tribes in his work.

Shamanic Healing

As a shamanic healer and teacher, Inti will share this day with us. We will experience deep-going teachings and techniques from the spiritual tradition of ancient cultures from North- and South America as well as India. Ceremonies, meditations, drums, dancing, singing, stories and prayers are part of his workshops. Perhaps we will do a shamanic dream journey or learn breathing and healing techniqes for our selves and others. Inti will always intuitively adjust the day to the needs of the group and share his deep mystic knowledge with us.

Indian Sweatlodge

The sacred ceremony of the sweatlodge is a cleansing of body, soul and spirit. In the tradition of the ancient cultures, it was used to start initiations or healings. We will build the sweatlodge together and get prepared for the ritual of healing. This ancient ceremony offers us to die a small death in the womb of mother earth and then emerge like newborn, freed from the past. […]

And finally an upcoming event for May 2010 in Austria:

http://www.streussnig.at/energiezentrum_/workshops.php

Quote
Intensive Workshop with Inti Cesar Malasquez – Son of the Sun

During this week, we will concentrate on the warrior within ourselves, on the conscious being with love for creation. We will leave every-day life behind to get into contact with this power. Inti leads and accompanies the process of every individual with his intuition. Shamanic techniques and healing rituals from ancient traditions will enable a deep experience. […]

We will go through the ritual of sweatlodge several times, several days of fasting and silence will be part of our experience, as well as learning various meditation techniques. The sound of the drum, the prayers sung, and many body exercises and rituals support and prepare the path which we will take in order to become a peaceful warrior.[...]

Teacher: Inti Cesar Malasquez – Son of the Sun
Date: May 15, 1 p.m. To May 22 until noon
Fees: € 575 for the workshop, € 100 seminar fee (wood for sweatlodge etc)

The above price apparently does not include accomodation, as there is a special note by the site-owner to contact her if participants also need accom. This means meals will be excluded, too – oh, wait a minute: this workshop includes 'several days of fasting'. And silence, so that complaints from participants about their being hungry will be somewhat limited. 'Several days of silence' of course will also limit the amount of teachings....

« Reply #2 on: February 26, 2010, 09:27:53 am »
Well, I know Inti.
I´ve met him several times.
Haven't´seen him in years but I was touring with him through Germany and the Netherlands. Plus joined in a few concerts he gave all all over Germany. He used to call me up whenever he was around, I hosted a group member of his band several times.
He is a musician in the first line. He does have a home or orphanage somewhere at the titikaka region. I´ve never been there, but it´s for sure. He was (don't know if he still is) touring Europe, collecting money for this project.
I was a professional musician for a while and joined his ban as a percussionist.
In his band is a guy, Ganesh Shankar Mishra (hope I write his name right), who is an indian tabla player. I know that his father was a praman, which is something like an indan priest, I´m not common in the Hinduistic ways. Anyway, Ganeshs father was a teacher of Inti. I forgot, why he went to India at all, but I know that he was living there for several years, studying Yoga, Sita (an indian instrument) and several meditation techniques.
Ganesh Shankar Mishra himself does Ayurvedic cooking- , Yoga- and massage workshops for money while he is on tour with Inti.
They sell jewelry and Instruments and CD´s of their music beside a concert. This is the money they keep for themselves, the money they take from the entrance fee (declared as donation) is the money they use for the child-programm in Peru. They very straight in that.

So I know and experienced Inti running sweat lodges. I was always controvert in the way he was (and surely still is) conducting sweats.
He´s mixing hinduistic songs and worships as well as hippy songs (you know, stuff like "mother I feel you under my feet", "the river is flowing" and so on) into a basic sweatlodge ceremony.
He is charging about 50 Euros (about 70 Bucks) per sweat, but I know that if somebody does not want or be able to pay, he is taking him anyway, so it is not a fixed fee. But, in fact he charges for something very strange and that money pays his expenses. I´ve never been a friend of that and I have to admit that this circumstance was the major reason for me not to join his band no more.

Beside this I know that he is taking people to the Peru-en rainforest and does Pejote ceremonys.
He does travels with groups to "the chakras of the world".
I never joined a party but I know they go to Hawaii and the Kailash. They travel, meditate, doing Yoga and I dont know what else.
I know he does "session" with people who come to him with their problems. They come and talk and many times they go with him on a trip to Peru or Tibet(trekking the Kailsh) or Hawaii.

Actually Inti is not a bad guy. He´s a nice and fun guy. I don't believe he does harm to anyone on purpose, or trys to rip anyone off. I think he really believes that he can help others with what he is doing. His intend is to help. He makes himself a comfort living though... as I know from his daughter who lives (or lived, haven't seen her in years) in austria.

He never tried to make me participate in any of his ceremonies, and respected my doubts. He was always open for a discussion, but I´m white, so what was I supposed to say anyway and of course I couldn't make him stop running New Age ceremonies with my statements.

At the end, he indeed is a New Ager. And so is everything he does.

I recommend to go and visit his concerts, they good, they fun, they pay a hope and chance for children who don't have a big future.
Avoid his spirituality. It´s a self constructed mix up and does not have much power, at least not more than you can get from a Yoga DVD combined with a CD of NDN-chants and some Maya tarot cards, which at the end are much cheaper.

Thanks for your contribution.

He does have a home or orphanage somewhere at the titikaka region.

the money they take from the entrance fee (declared as donation) is the money they use for the child-programm in Peru. They very straight in that.

The information published at Malasquez site is the following:

There, faraway from the modern world, Hijos del Sol, (Son of the Sun) has constructed their project building with donations from many European friends. Since May 1997, a kindergarten has been functioning in our project building. There we have a growing number of happy, healthy boys and girls who are the first children on the island who have the opportunity to attend kindergarten. [...]

We bought and constructed a big house with donations from Europe. We started with 20 children in the kindergarten three years ago. This year we have 32 children in the kindergartin plus 20 "graduates" from previous years who come to work three afternoons a week with a teacher, plus we had another 16 pre-school age children who came to be fed twice a day. The nutrition program has grown with the help of the Peruvian governmental organisation PRONAA.[...]

There are eight communities on the island with a population of about 5,000 people. […]

First of all, *nowhere* here do they mention this is a non-profit, while they hasten to inform readers their spiritual ventures are.

Additionally, *nowhere* do they mention that all income from tickets sales goes into the school/kindergarden project. As this would make an ideal marketing argument for boosting ticket sales, I have serious doubts. In fact, this happens to be a marketing argument with many plastics: giving part of their intake 'back to their tribe' which we have found with many plastics.

They do *not* mention a school. Some 20 children 'working with a teacher' three afternoons a week certainly does not qualify as running a school.
The figures given at their site are just for the children admitted to their kindergarden. Furthermore, for a population of some 5,000 people on the island, 32 children is nothing much to write home about, especially when the entire population is living in dire straits, as is mentioned on their site. Even adding these 20 'graduates' and another 16 pre-school aged children coming for meals, the figure is not exactly impressive, as they apparently receive government funding for the food they buy.

And another aspect with makes me wonder: albeit there are photos showing the spiritual premises Malasquez runs, the photos in the kindergarden section all show children outside of a building, on the grass, on a path etc., on some there are buildings in the far-away background. I don't think this is very convincing.

He was (don't know if he still is) touring Europe, collecting money for this project.

Malasquez was and is doing annual tours with gigs, selling ceremonies, doing semniars and esoteric congresses in the USA, several European countries, as well as Asian countries. The schedule is up at his site.

Inti never claimed to be "Nonprofit".
If you ask him what the money of his Workshops, camps and so on is for, he will tell you that this pays his bills.
I mean he does say that he shares money with some poor and helpless people of his community, I dont see there any reason for him to lie.
I belive him. Of cours he does not share it 50/50. But he never said he does so. He´s making himself a comfort living, he lets the people coming to his workshops know that. I´ve heard it couple of times. Their fault they pay him, me for myself I never uderstood this. But it is typical white. If they want to buy something, they buy it. Funny eh?

Apparently, things are also kept in the family – take due note of the surnames of the ladies mentioned: Ms Rhada Malasquez and Ms Ananda Gopal Malasquez who seems to be from India, judging by her name.

I was pondering about his wife... dont remeber where she´s comming from but his daughters name must be mistaken. It is charda, she was born in Peru and lives in Austria (She´s married to an Austrian) and Peru. She´s not Indian (Indian Indian ;D) at all, looks like the typicall peruen chick. She´s a nice person, no wannabe, just herself and helping her dad by his buisenss, like selling stuff at the shop and so on.

The Kindergarden is real. belive me. Although I was´nt there, I´ve met people who were. The projekt is for real. The money Inti does with his Concerts goes straight there.

Like i said. Aviod his Spirituallity. visit his concerts. They fun. Nothing more.
