--- Quote ---White Star (Lino Alelyunas)  has an extraordinary background. She was born into a family of psychics: a psychic Lithuanian grandmother, a Cherokee grandmother,  a mother who became a Zen student in 1965 and used the I Ching for consultations about the family; a brother who is highly psychic and a sister who is a practicing medical intuitive and healer.

--- Quote ---has had the title of Medicine Woman conferred upon her by other Native American medicine men and women

--- Quote ---As I am of Native American lineage myself (registered with the Cherokee Nation – my grandfather was full blood Cherokee, and my grandmother apparently had Native blood as well, including Arapaho, Shawnee and Pawnee

)

--- Quote ---Some of the Native teachers I studied with along the way (from the time I was 17 until now), were Wallace Black Elk (Lakota); Ed McGaa (Eagle Man - Lakota); Buck Ghosthorse (Lakota); Gloria Two Feathers (Lakota); Brant Secunda,a Huichol shaman; Linda Ross, a profound Navaho medicine woman; Johnson Denison, esteemed Navaho medicine man; David Singing Bear (Cherokee); Rowanna (head of the Hopi medicine society for women); Uqualla (Havasupai ceremonial leader); Michael Harner (an anthropologist who studied shamanism with the Salish tribe in Washington); Sun Bear (Crow) and many others.

Her husband's name is Robert Lonsdorf. I don't know if they are still married. They lived recently in Bali.

Concerning this part from the post above:

--- Quote --- She was born into a family of psychics: a psychic Lithuanian grandmother, a Cherokee grandmother,  a mother who became a Zen student in 1965 and used the I Ching for consultations about the family
--- End quote ---

...both her paternal grandparents Stanley Alelyunas and Katherine Marcenkewicz are from Lithuania.

So that leaves her maternal side only for possible Cherokee. The reference to mother being a Zen student are possibly true, since Buddhism and a "bohemian lifestyle" are mentioned in her obit.

But I see no sign indicating Cherokee. I only see white in census. Also her mother's obit does not say Cherokee.

--- Quote ---ALELYUNAS, Carol B.1922-2008

Carol B. Alelyunas of Corbett died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at age 86.

She was born Carol Jane Bundy on March 12, 1922, in Chicago. The only child of Francis and Carroll Bundy, she was proud to be a descendent of Lucas Schermerhorn, a captain in the Revolutionary Army.

Carol graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she was recognized as a promising young poet.

While sketching in Central Park she met her future husband, Paul Alelyunas. They shared a Bohemian lifestyle in New York as struggling artists. Six children later, and after living in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Hollywood, Calif., they landed in Corbett to do their own version of homesteading.

Carol earned her master's degree in social work from Portland State University. She spent many years with Portland social services agencies and had a special interest in working with the elderly.

Carol pursued numerous activities and interests including the arts, travel and Buddhism throughout her life. Her travels included trips to Europe, Nepal, India and Bali, often accompanied by her children. As a member of the Gresham Arts Council, she exhibited her work in watercolor and monotype in shows and coffee shops in the Portland area.

--- End quote ---

--- Quote ---She is survived by her children, Catherine Alelyunas of Crestone, Colo.; Peter Alelyunas of Norwood, Colo.; Edward Alelyunas of Albuquerque, N.M.; Carl Alelyunas of West Linn; Lino Lonsdorf of Downingtown, Pa.; and Robert Alelyunas of Wilmington, Del.

I don't see anything to verify this "my grandfather was full blood Cherokee" on her mother's side.

On her mother's obit "she was proud to be a descendent of Lucas Schermerhorn, a captain in the Revolutionary Army"- this likely is Captain Lucas Jacob Schermerhorn, born 10-15-1732, died 1787, served New York Col Kilian Van Rensselaer, 3rd company, 6th Regiment. His wife was Wyntje Fitzgerald.

One of her students, Dawn Smelser

--- Quote ---She has had 5 years of formal training in Classical Yoga, including 3 years of training in the esoteric tradition of Yoga under the guidance of renowned Clairvoyant, Lino Aleylunas.

Back in 2007 Alelyunas did not identify as having any Cherokee or other Native American ancestry.
https://web.archive.org/web/20071129234003/http://divinelightministries.com:80/_wsn/page2.html

She did say she had studied Native American Shamanism with "Gloria Twofeather, Brant Secunda, Ed McGaa, Buck Ghosthorse and Micheal Harner".

By 2012 she added a "Cherokee grandmother".
She said she studied with "Native American Teachers: Gloria Twofeather, Brant Secunda, Ed McGaa, Buck Ghosthorse, Michael Harner, Navajo Medicine Woman Linda Ross, Navajo Medicine Man Johnson Dennison, Hopi Medicine Woman RoAnna, Elk Dreamer, David Singing Bear and Uqualla."

--- Quote ---Shamanic Experience:  Bali:   This workshop will combine learning Native American rituals and ceremonies with meeting profound Indonesian shaman and learning about their work as well.  A mystical, magical workshop that will take you into many states of consciousness and open up the shaman within you or satisfy your interests in authentic indigenous practises.

educatedindian:
The list of people she learned from is mostly a who's who of frauds:

"Wallace Black Elk (Lakota); Ed McGaa (Eagle Man - Lakota); Buck Ghosthorse (Lakota); Gloria Two Feathers (Lakota); Brant Secunda,a Huichol shaman; Linda Ross, a profound Navaho medicine woman; Johnson Denison, esteemed Navaho medicine man; David Singing Bear (Cherokee); Rowanna (head of the Hopi medicine society for women); Uqualla (Havasupai ceremonial leader); Michael Harner (an anthropologist who studied shamanism with the Salish tribe in Washington); Sun Bear (Crow)"

We have threads on most of them:
WBE (not his actual name, and no relation to the well known Black Elk)
McGaa, a lawyer posing as a healer
Mattern/Ghosthorse, the white imposter and former KKK member
Secunda, who is white
Quintana/DSB ,who played a part in the mass deaths in Sedona
Uqualla, who is more of a showman
Harner, the disgraced EX anthropologist disavowed by his profession.

What's interesting is her getting Laduke/Sun Bear's tribe wrong. He was an ex actor, Ojibwe posing as teaching Lakota ways to white hippies. He's also been dead a quarter century. It makes me suspect she's just pulling names off the net.

Johnson Dennison is an obvious big exception. He's a well known traditionalist, trying to get western medicine to integrate Navajo healing into its practices. I'd guess she may have encountered him during her time as a social worker.

There are two possibles for Linda Ross. One is much like Dennison. Another claims to be a psychic surgeon.

But that's the only for profit event I could find on her.

Having an Indonesian wife, I know they don't call their healers "shamans." They call it simply traditional medicine or healers. Most Indonesians are Muslim, most Balinese are Hindus. There are older traditions like Aluk To Dolo and Kejawen. Pretty obvious she chose the shame on name for marketing purposes.

Moved to Frauds, though there's still much that can be researched on her.
