A Dinéh Friend
« on: October 30, 2004, 09:48:05 am »
I´d like to give a whole bunch of flowers to a Dinéh friend.

Andrew Thomas from Gallup, now living in Albuquerque, was once a poor rez guy but has made a career as a contemporary flute player and is now touring all over the world with his newly released CD. He is also a writer in the book "They Call Us Indians".

It is so easy to "get lost" once you become famous but the way Andrew has stayed focused on his people and on the traditional way of thinking is very impressing to say the least! Still as humble and genuine as ever! And he speaks up about the violation of spirituality and commercialism wherever he goes, talking about faked shamans and how offensive this is to his people. He has been quoted in Swedish newspapers and has also appeared on TV over here.

Andrew tours Europe a lot and I just wish that all the guys booking frauds over here would welcome Andrew to learn what the other side of the scale looks like!!
