I could not continue reading beyond this passage. Stating that abuse was inevitable during a moment of initial truth-telling is about the most anti-helpful thing you could do. I guess he thinks his Manifest Destiny beliefs trump human rights. Abuse is not inevitable.
I know different people with this trauma to handle and my heart goes out. I am so angry that this happened. I salute all survivors and families and wish you continuing strength.

I'm sorry if I was harsh. I'm not native either: when I first started posting on NDN lists and forums I'm sure I annoyed the hell out of people (and maybe still do), but I benefitted from their politeness and patience. I could try harder to learn from the example of others.
