Title: Juan Jose Reyna Jr. AKA Sonne Reyna
Post by: TimberlineWarrior on August 22, 2005, 06:27:30 pm
There is a local drumming group that my wife and I have been watching, she has joined their mailing list and they sent this out to her this evening. My alarm bells rang the second I read he's a Native American Shaman!

Here is the complete mail, headers and all...

Subject: Native American Indian Chief Sonne Reyna

Hello,

I thought that you may be intersted in coming to meet Chief Sonne Reyna,
Nawal (Shaman) of the  Native Amercian Indian lineage of the Yaqui people.

Sonne is on tour in Europe in the next month and he is doing evening talks in Glastonbury
on Friday 26th August and in Wiltshire on Sunday 28th August.
These talks will be followed by a Ceremonial healing event on Monday 29th at a Tipi Site near Avebury in Wiltshire during the day.

The ceremony is called Healing Ancestral Grief or sometimes also known as
Wiping Away The Tears.
This is an ancient ceremonial healing process and calls in very powerful magic.

If you would like to attend the Ceremony the price is £55 for the day and will be
held on a Tipi site close to Avebury, Wiltshire.

Those of you who would like to come to the talk on Sunday and attend the ceremony on Monday are welcome to stay overnight in the Tipi after Sonne's talk. (an overnight price of only £10)

Details of venues and directions and times will be supplied as requested.

Drop us a line if you would like to book a place or if you would like more information either by return of email
or you can call :

More on Sonne Reyna. Check out the big grin and the beret:
http://www.sonnereyna.com/
"Also known as Whirlwind Eagle Wolf."

That's one funny twink name. I'm trying to picture an eagle and wolf caught up in a whilrwind...
And on some sites he uses the BRITISH spelling, "wolfe".

"He is a Graduate of Theology and Communication Arts from the University of Texas, Arlington, USA."
Does he mean graduated In theology and comm?

"He is from Yaqui-Carrizo Coahuilteka Nations of North America."
Interesting. The Coahuilteca are near me. Some are white Nuage wannabes who dress in Roman togas, some have ancestry. But they don't claim to be a nation since they've been scattered for decades.
The Carrizos, as far as I know, haven't been around for two centuries. And neither group lived near the Yaqui.

"Carlos Castaneda wrote many books about the amazing Yaqui Indians who are world famous for their spiritual wisdom."
He cites the King of Frauds? Proudly?

"Chief Sonne Reyna is Nawal Eagle Clan Chief, Traditional Sun Dancer and Sun Dance Society Peace Chief. He is interfaith Minister and Global Ambassador for the Natural and Supernatural worlds."
ROFL! An ambassador to the supernatural? Do Scully and Mulder know this? Like the creative spelling for Nagual, which is a title not used by Yaquis anyway.

He also sells just about everything, weddings and namings. He's also based in Germany, nowhere near Yaqui people.

"12.00 & 03.01: Master Shamanic Training, Oakland, Ca, USA"
Probably where he learned "shamanism."

"07.01: Graduate, Astropsychology & divine astrology, Dr. Louis Turi, AZ, USA "

Turi is himself quite a character.
http://www.drturi.com/
"In 1993 he received a metaphysical Doctorate from the Progressive Universal Life Church based in Sacramento, California. His notoriety skyrocketed after rekindling, practicing and teaching Nostradamus’ rare Divine Astrology method, which he calls Astropsychology....He writes a yearly periodical with all these predictions, called "Moon Power Starguide." The printing process makes the proof of his predictions totally unarguable."

LOL! Does it really?
http://www.rfma.net/archives/000097.html
"self-described "prophet" Dr. Louis Turi, a failed scam artist who bought his PhD at a diploma mill for $350, and whose predictions never seem to come true."
http://www.rense.com/general10/latenight.htm
"I find the "Dr. Louis Turi: Astropsychology Readings" portion of your schedule to be ridiculous and almost funny if wasn't so pathetic. I believe "Dr." Turi to be a fraud who isn't even very imaginative in his repetitive horoscopes. "

Other questionalbe types Reyna associates with, including Lewis Mehl Madrona:

I find it interesting how the "dead" UFO "field" has found a new audience with crowds like this one.  Looks like it is revival time with everyone wanting to make a buck and sell a book.

Mike:

There are a lot of ways you could've defended Turi's business, which to most people looks like outright looniness and fraud. But spamming us with half a dozen posts with maybe twenty testimonials wasn't the right way to do it.

Not only was it childish, it sure didn't provide any evidence whatsoever to change anyone's mind about Turi. A couple dozen testimonials don't prove anything without knowing, first of all, just how many clients he has. Since he makes a living at this, it would seem to be at least hundreds of clients, so twenty testimonials is only a small percent of alleged right guesses he "predicted."

Most of those comments only show how gullible or desperate to believe many people are. For example:

"You said that anyone traveling on that date might end up stranded in an airport!!"

Oh brother...on any given night MANY people are stranded in airports.

"Well, once again, you have been right on target with your predictions....My sense is that your August 29th date of thousands relocating could very easily come from a Major Hurricanne."

Please...on any given date, not just thousands but hundreds of thousands are relocating somewhere on the planet.

"You're a winner, a high flying star.  God's  gift to the world.  Yes you are,  yes you are.   Rabbi  Happyman"

Rabbi Happyman? ROFL! No comment needed...

"Congratulation on your sorrowful accuracy of the most recent "Terrorist Attack...."

There have been terrorist attacks somewhere in the world, almost every week, sometimes daily, for how many years now?

Now if he said, "an attack on US troops in Iraq in city X on the exact date and time, using method X" then he could claim success.

And then I would wonder why he hasn't gone to the Pentagon, instead of selling predictions on a website?

In fact, if he is supposedly so accurate, why isn't he wealthier than Bill Gates from knowing what the Stock Market will do?

"Please send me your free Moon Power Book so that I may evolve to a higher plateau of awareness and can apply this knowledge to my life. I need all the help I can get. "

Once again, no comment necessary, except perhaps she really does need a lot of help.

What Turi does, ANYONE could do, throw out incredibly vague predictions and then claim "success" when a few of them seem to be "right".

"Chief" Sonne Reyna is a supposed "Chief" of the Sundance...his words to Piya and myself last night in Wiltshire...Sonne as I will not grace his name with the prefix "Chief" talks some good BS. Sonne was somewhat startled to see a couple of natives from back home walking down the path towards him and his cohorts..we had just inspected the teepees which were a motley lot covered in mildew and the remains of spliffs and those baggies in which wacky baccy can be found. The whole site was very Nuage.. we also saw a suspicious circle which could have been the site for a sweat..this when we came back down to the entrance of the site had been covered up by some old sacks.

Sonne claimed to have been made a "Chief" of the Sundance at Rosebud and was great friends with Chief Arvol Lookinghorse.

Sonne claimed to have been given permission by his fathers people to conduct ceremonies and prayers in Europe and wherever he could spread the word. Sonne threw around famous or well known ndn names like they were going out of style and of course they were all his brothers.

Sonne claimed when I tackled him on the selling of ceremonies for money..£55.00 per person for the ceremony today...he claimed he had his fathers peoples permisson to do this..when I told him this is not the nations way to "sell" ceremony..he changed the subject and then claimed he did not agree with selling sweats for money.

I told Sonne that he is being watched very carefully and full reports will be going back to all Nations on his nefarious activities and no matter how quiet theses events were arranged..Piya and I will find out about it..whether it is he or someone else who turns up hoping to make a fast buck out of bastardising our customs.

The meeting ended needless to say with Sonne becoming rather petty and spitting the word "wannabee" into Barnabys face..Barnaby I have to say is a really nice guy and the last one to be called "wannabee"

Sonne knew he was found out and knew he had been beat!

Piya and I confirm this man is an out and out fraud.

I don't think the Yaqui even do sweats do they? Certainly not Sundances, they're pretty devout Catholics.

Wish I could've been there to see that and watch you make him squirm. I'd ask him how he claimed to be a people that hasn't been around for two centuries, the Carrizo. Also could've mentioned the names of local Coahuilteca organizations and seen his reaction.

That was fun, wasn't it?

Yes, it was great to meet you, Piya and Miamowi. Hoping we can meet up again next time I'm up that way, or you guys are down this way.

We forgot to ask Reyna about his military service record, by the way.

Edit: just a few words on Reyna's style of BS.

Before he worked out what was happening, he started out making reference to cottonwood trees, saying while pointing to some nearby willows that all the cottonwoods around where we were standing reminded him of home, and that they were "always talking" to him. Cottonwoods don't grow in the UK.

There were also allusions to getting plenty of roadkill on the drive to Wiltshire, and some other "I'm down with the skins back home" stuff.

Also, the place we thought was a sweatlodge was covered with mats the whole time we were there, I think. Let's be charitable: maybe they were just starting a little garden there, using expensive coir mats suitable for sitting on to kill the weeds, rather than black plastic like everyone else does.

Oh and Sky also sent this:

"As far as I can tell he didn't come out of the woodwork until 96 at a

Medicine Story.  Which reminds me...if I can find a certain pic of Medicine
Story can you post it to NAFPS for me?  I don't have the time to participate
in the discussions and I hate just popping in once a year or so.  It's not
really fair of me to do that.  And tell everyone there I said hello!"

So, if I have pics to post, who can I send them to? I have a pic of Sonny Reyna on my email now.

Kwe Sky..chuckles here..I would love to try that one on the twinks here...we..Piya and I ..go to the "Pow Wows"  here in the UK...isnt wierd when a ndn feels out of place at a Pow Wow eh?

At the last one..there was a news camera crew..they spotted us and asked if we were participating..certainly not we replied..asked if we were enjoying ourselves....nope..so many violations of our customs we are not happy about..the broadcast wasnt aired needless to say.

The organiser of the event..he came up and asked if we were enjoying ourselves..my reply..the crow hop dance..it is not done this way..his answer..was it was their "own interpretation"..I mean come on...ya mean to say us ndn's dont know what our own dances are?..yeah right!

Lol..I kinda get on my high horse when I see this type of thing happening!

I mean to say..these wannabees dress in regalia the normal everyday ndn cant afford to have!

And then they get over from the US special visitors normally from Rosebud..ok..now these Visitors see Piya and me..but will they talk to us..nope..lol..maybe case of I see you Tonto?..chuckles here..

As for Sonne boy..we will get him exposed one way or another! You can bet on that!

I got this reply off another site in response to my post about Sonne. I have not included the authors name for privacy.

here is some info although i only speak from personal exp and from what i know from other/s comments and experiences shared with me.
i am from reyna's part of calif. i know this man and i know of his reputation which is quite controversial because of his history of what some call "selling" ndn knowledge, spirituality etc.he may have a good intent i cannot say because i am not him but i never did trust him instinctively. nasty temper. i had a run in with  him once at his Indian Market event which he sponsors every year in san juan bautista. a woman was trying to "recruit" me to his camp and i said i heard \he sold the ceremonoies. she called him and his woman over and repeated my comment. the man and his then wife known as bluebird woman both went ballistics. hmmmmmmmmmmm guilty conscience mebee?
anyway seems he has been keeping  busy
i noticed on one of his web pages he now is yaqui. a long time ago he was lakota or so i was told.  ?
ahhhh i dare say no more or my little birdie fedders may get plucked

More that Ingeborg found on German sites.
-----
did another search and found a few entries.
BTW, I wondered about the first name he uses now, Sonne, as it is the German
word for 'sun'. After what I found below, it's not all that much of a
surprise.
I also found entries which say that HV is a psychotherapist living in the
German town of Heilbronn, but you probably know this. I am a bit surprised to
see that HV does not have a website in his capacity as a psychotherapist
since most of them seem to have one.
I also would like to add that 'psychotherapist' is no protected term here in
Germany, quite unlike psychologist. Each and any Tom, Dick, and Harry may
call themselves a psychotherapist and open up shop. As long as their
customers do not complain to the police, they can pretty much go ahead.
Here's the translation of a part of a website which contains info on HV:
www.indianermuseum-bretten.de
" Visitors were heads over heels, too, when they got to know the story of the
man under whose auspices this event happened. Only six years ago, Henry Reyna
learned that he is the great-grandson of the famous Chief Geronimo. The
sociologist and psychotherapist living in the town of Heilbronn for a long
time took no interest in the history of his family. His mother had always
told him that his father was a Mexican. In 1996, he tried to find his father.
Although he did find him, but it was only 3 years later that his father broke
his silence and talked about his roots. "A descendant of Geronimo? He's got
to be joking", he remembers his reaction upon first hearing this. After more
research, this became a certainty and as he knows now, his father meant to
protect him, as he is the last male descendant. "
I found another website with his name and phone number:
www.babaji.at
Seems that HV in 2003 was not quite able to tell Indians and Indians apart
[sarcasm off], since his name got put up as a 'local contact for the first
step pf Babaji's Kriya Yoga":

Barnaby..can you move this under frauds please...I cant find the original thread under archives.

However, he is back up to his old tricks again and despite having been warned off British 3 years ago by Barnaby(who he was very very rude to) and myself is back now as "Chief"

Sighs...he needs to learn a harsh lesson in life!

Couldn't have gone this weekend unfortunately. I think you did the warning: I just asked him some questions he didn't like, so he called me a 'wannabe' for the benefit of his supporters. Isn't that ironic?

Anyway, here's video of Reyna in action. Prime ham, I think:

This is the website of the organisation running the event on Glastonbury.

If you think Reyna's funny, get a load of 'Lionfire' aka David R. Leonard (http://people.tribe.net/lionfireshaman), one of the other 'wisdomkeepers' at this strange event.

With makeup:

Look, he's got his own t-shirts. Cute.

Though claiming to be an artist, he's pretty much an exploiter in his own right.

http://www.thelighthows.com/lionfire/bio_david.htm
"...recently been appointed to teach art at the Pueblo Community College extensions in Cortez and Durango. Currently completing his doctorate in Native Cosmologies..."

Come on, he expects people to buy that there is such a degree program?

"Two-Spirit" White Shaman of Norse and Celtic heritage"

So he's claiming being gay means he's a shaman? Or is that a recent trend among pagans?

"In recognition of his supportive participation in the First International Gathering of Indigenous Cultures (September 2000), in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, David was made an honorary member of the World Natural Health Organization."

In spite of the pretentious title, that gathering doesn't show up anywhere online except his website.

And only the worst kinds of quacks would be proud to be part of that "WNHO".
Lots of crackpot theories about:

"The Global Warming Hoax
Aspartame
Fluoride
Vaccinations"

Plus the WNHO is part of many deeply conservative Christian groups. Why does Leonard think it has anything to do with NDNs?
http://www.wnho.net/christian_reading.htm

"In 2003, David was honored to facilitate the Standing Elk/Golden Eagle Star Knowledge Solstice Prayer Circle, held at LionFire in June 2003. In August 2002, he assisted Drunvalo Melchizedek and the members of the Four Corners Southwest Pilgrimage, helping them to build a Taos medicine wheel at Hovenweep, and later provided his Mayan knowledge and shamanic support to members of Drunvalo's Mayan Chakra Temple tour and his own tours to the Mayan coasts and jungles in April 2002 and 2003."

A Taos med wheel? Mayan knowledge from a Norse/Celtic two spirit? And a chakra temple? The guy's very confused.

"LionFire offers spiritual programs including Mayan studies and tours, drumming, dance, shamanic shieldmaking, and trance workshops. Prints of David's paintings, Reiki training, and private Reiki treatments may be arranged by contacting him at 1423 E. Main Street, #134, Cortez, Co 81321, or by email to lionfire@charter.net."

Doing exploiter workshops out of his apartment, looks like.

And also claiming to be a lightworker working with a mix of exploiters, eccentric artist types, and a few claiming to be curanderas.

Okey dokey here we go then, first while I respect one of you has gone to the trouble of phoning Arvol and other speaking to folks in Aims Texas chapter, did any of you ask if those people would be willing to commit that to statement?Legally speaking phone chats are hearsay. All the Nations and persons he claims to have studied under(the sundance has no place in europe full stop, our peoples return to their home territiories for these things) we need the written comments from those peoples.
Rayna has been a silly boy,in that he's playing with Indian identities, yet mixing it and hanging out with nuage mediums at a time when the law is changing and the patience of the ex pat community is wearing thin. What do you want to do guys,do you want to continue freaking out and talking up a storm every time he pops(or poops, your choice)in Europe or do you want to explore ways to get this sorry excuse for humanity into a court and shut his activities down permanent?.

Sonne Reyna apparently is also active in more European countries. I found entries on sites from Germany, Switzerland, and Denmark.

http://www.l-total.com/?sEndungen:Message_Embassy:Yaqui_%2F_Yahemme

"Yaqui / Yahemme

Chief Sonne Reyna, Peace- & Sundance Chief of the Yaqui Indians (Yahemme) is the first official member of the 'Message Embassy' and has taken on the task of helping to bring the ancient cultures together and to carry their hearts' messages into the world in a multi-medial way.

Since the Chief has already participated in such gatherings of Indian tribes, he will of course especially gather these.[translator's note: the German original choses a wording which must be seen as racist in this context. When persons are called for a gatherings, the phrase of 'drumming them together' can be used in colloquial language.]

Here [link to the film at the site] is a short film done during a visit in Berlin (90 MB). After his last Vision Quest in Denmark, we were allowed to interview him and will soon present a thrilling film at our station.

In this interview, not only surprising information about Carlos Castaneda did come up, but also an ancient prophecy of the Indians [sic]: 'Spider Woman'. I would like to say something about her in advance of our film...

During a time in which the world completely comes apart and the people in a way have completely lost their heart, the Indians [sic] expect help from the spirit of the spider who will weave a large net of mass communication around the world in order to support it in unity and communication of what is really important. The Indians see the internet as 'Spider Women's' net!!

But it isn't simply this. In Northern Texas (where the Chief comes from), millions of small spiders have woven an enormous net which has the size of several football fields. The Indians see this as a sign from Spider Woman announcing she is here! When I returned, I started to research and I'm really shocked:

http://www.nbc5i.com/slideshow/news/14014777/detail.html (Slideshow)
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/08/30/spider.web.ap/#cnnSTCVideo (film)

In accordance with the Chief, we will develop the website www.spiderwomen.in and the project "spiderwomen productions" [sic]) and assist in realizing his (website) products. From the beginning of October, Chief Sonne Reyna will be touring Germany and with some help offer concerts/jams as well as healing circles in Frankfort, Munich, and Berlin. We are looking for places, musicians, and organizers for this (please mail!)

The seers of the Yaquis assume that in 2008 changes for the transition to a New Age (which the Yaquis call the 6th world) will begin. The Chief shall concentrate on 2008 in everything he does, as no real influence on the events is possible and what is going to be realized in 2008 will happen anyway.

In 2008, he wants to do music, films, concerts, and events which will teach the spirit of the Heart People (a translation of the own name of his tribe "Yaheme", the name "Yaqui" was given to them). We are looking for more professional studios, but also persons who are simply enthusiastc and concerned.

From 2011 at the latest, the 5th world will die through nature's violence, which does not mean the end of the world, but an end to wars, to hunger, fear, and greed. All who haven't become "Heart People" (Yaheme) will be practically 'blown away'.

In short they say their project still in its initial stages is meant for children, adolescents, and grown-ups, a non-profit allowing persons from all age groups, nationalities, and religious denominations to learn and live together.

"The natural order of society

The Rainbow School will orientate towards a natural order of society like with the Indian native population of North America. The natural order of society was described by Yaqui Chief Sonne Reyna in his Talking Circles in the Studio for Dance and Transformation at the island of Ibiza in Winter 2001/2002 as follows:
- first are the women who can give life
- second are the children, because future belongs to them
- third is the community, because we cannot survive without it
- fourth are the men, because they are meant to protect and keep everything."

And a site from Denmark:
http://www.atlc.org/members/summit1/biosandpix.html

"Chief Sonne Reyna is a descendant of the Yaqui-Coahuilteka Nations, Sun Dance Society Peace Chief, an Ambassador for the Natural World who shares ceremonies that re-bond global humanity with Nature, advisor to the San Juan Indian Council, Vietnam War veteran, artist-writer, owner: American Indian Gallery, cofounder: World Cultures Market and California Indian Market (San Juan Bautista, CA), and cofounder: Healing Our World Conference.

He is a graduate in Theology and Communication Arts, University of Texas, Arlington, Texas, and co-founder of Earth's Children Cultural Organization (ECCO), a global association that unifies cultural wisdom to facilitate human consciousness and personal growth. We are the generation of hope that heals our presence in this world for all the children! If not now, when? If not us, who?

He is working on a book: The Global Revolution--Women and Men in Balance with Nature."

Yeah, well...old Sonny is getting mighty confused. No such thing as a "Yaqui Coahuilteka nation." The Yaqui live in Sonora and Arizona, the Coahuilteca (with the right spelling) are here in south Texas. I doubt there was much in the way of ties between the two peoples pre conquest. Coahuilteca is a very broad term for a language group with dozens of small tribes in the area. San Antonio was founded as a group of missions out to convert them.

There used to be a group calling itself the Coahuilteca Nation here in San Antonio, since calling themselves Tap Bilam, with many in the American Indians of Texas-Spanish Colonial Missions.

I hate to burst any bubbles however I know Sonne very well, being an old girlfriend. He has much charisma and is talented orator like his father, but he does not walk his talk. He is mostly Mexican blood with 1/4 N. Am. He does not honor his wives which he has many, chasing many other women while in marriage, abandoning his little boy and wife in France, pretending to know native tongue when he does not, etc. He is one of those who saw an opportunity and grabbed it, desiring fame. I'm sorry 2say?

Reyna says both of his parents come from shamanic lineages. He says as a preteen he learned from "tornado shamans" how to turn tornadoes aside. He also says that we've all reincarnated and "I believe that we are all natives.".

Sonne’s teachings are introduced through the film Metaphysia 2012, by Sean Fisher. The film shares the journey of open innocence through the minefield of new age information and ideas around humanity’s developing consciousness.

In all his work, Chief Reyna’s major inspiration and passion is his vision to revive the most important of Indigenous Sacred Wisdom:  “That the Children Belong to All of Us – They are born and are enchanted until disenchanted adults change them.

That Family includes all enchanted creatures of Earth Sky – We are all related.

That Enchanted Men are the Guardians of Life – forming a Protective Circle around the Family. That Enchanted Men are Compassionate and Responsible Fathers.

That Enchanted Men Honour the Ability of Enchanted Women to Lead and Guide Humankind to Salvation.”

It comes as no surprise to learn that Chief Sonne Reyna was raised by 'tornado shamans' able to control the weather. He's a force of nature, with a face as fissured and craggy as an Arizona rock-face and a laugh so loud and broad you can see his tonsils dancing in the back of this throat.

They were married for 20 years. They marked their divorce on a hilltop, invited all their friends and considered it a sacred sign of approval when an eagle flew overhead. Now Chief Sonne lives in a trailer out by the tepee.

A New Age Hoax Posing as Native
Calling this a documentary is a stretch. It's about as accurate as those awful Ancient Alien shows on History Channel. New Age nonsense throughout, POSING as American Indian:

The 2012 pseudo prophecy came from New Age imposters, not Mayas or other Natives. Actual Mayas were appalled and frustrated because they have no prophecies about 2012. Far from any end of the world, their ancient calendars go to the year 4377! And even then they don't show any apocalypse. All those claims came from white New Agers posing as experts in order to fleece the fearful and gullible.

"Chief Sonne Reyna" is not a chief, and his claims of ancestry change constantly, from Yaqui to Apache to Comanche to Coahuilteca to Carrizo. None of these tribes are related to each other. The last, Carrizo, were made extinct over 200 years ago! His real name is Juan Jose Reyna Jr. He's Mexican with possibly distant ancestry, and makes his living peddling New Age nonsense to European whites.

Save your time and avoid seeing this hoax from imposters and exploiters.
---------
And a bio of Reyna:

Born Juan Jose Reyna Jr. according to his father's obituary at https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/35118985/juan-jose-reyna.  Reyna is a Mexican American calling himself "Chief Sonne Reyna." He is not a chief, and his claims of ancestry change constantly, from Yaqui to Apache to Comanche to Coahuilteca to Carrizo. None of these tribes are related to each other. The last, Carrizo, were made extinct over 200 years ago.

He possibly has distant ancestry, and makes his living peddling New Age ideas to European whites, passing them off as Native American. Also calls himself "Whirlwind Eagle Wolf." On some sites he uses the British spelling, "wolfe." He claims to be a "Nawal Eagle Clan Chief, Sun Dance Society Peace Chief, and Global Ambassador for the Supernatural worlds." Neither naguals nor the Sun Dance have anything to do with any of the tribes he falsely claims. He also sells just about everything, weddings and namings, and is based in Germany.

He claims training from "Dr." Louis Turi, a French astrologer whose degree came from a degree mill. Reyna also claims to be a member of the American Indian Movement (AIM). AIM denies this. Lakota tribes deny he is a Sundance chief as he claims. Reyna also once falsely claimed to be Geronimo's great-grandson. Reyna has been married and divorced twice, the second time to a French woman, abandoning both the wife and child.

Excerpts from an article about a past Reyna event, notable especially because of description of "blood sacrifice":

 A Most Powerful Ceremony

On Sunday, Jan 11th I participated in a Coahuilteka (healing and empowerment) ceremony with Chief Sonne Reyna and his brother, Jesse Reyna of the Yaqui Indian Nation. It was a powerful experience that I want to share with others.

About 20 people gathered at a house in San Francisco. We began with a sharing of food and a getting to know who was there with us. Before the actual ceremony, we all watched "Mending the Sacred Hoop". This film is about a Lakota Indian Chief leading rides (on horseback) to places like Wounded Knee where congregations of indigenous peoples perform sacred ceremony together for the sake of the world, and to heal the land where terrible things have happened. (Wounded Knee is an infamous place where large numbers of defenseless American Indians were massacred by the US Cavalry in the mid 19th century)

A recent congregation took place in Costa Rica where indigenous peoples gathered from all over Central, North, and South America. Another such gathering in June, 2004 took place in Hiroshima, Japan (As the Lakota Chief says "There are places like Wounded Knee all over our world").

After the film, the Chief began the actual ceremony by telling us a little history of how the Yaqui nation was governed in traditional times. There were two governing houses (much like the Senate and the House of Representatives) but one house was composed of all men, and the other, all women. Each had equal power in decision making for the tribe, including warfare. And the men would not go to war unless the women agreed. Sometimes in dire situations, the mothers of the tribe would place themselves between the warriors of conflicting tribes and bring the fighting to a halt.

Chief Reyna said that modern society has is backwards today in our "artificial world". The real power of the women has been taken away. He believes that the only hope for America to become truly great is to take responsibility, and to heal from the genocide and other atrocities that were committed upon the native American peoples by the European invaders. The Chief says that this healing must come about by the restoration of the true power of women.

Then the Chief spoke about ancient ceremonies in which the sacrifice of blood was the medium of powerful prayer. For women, in their monthly menstrual cycles, they would for a time, bleed consciously on the earth as a prayer. And for the men, this bleeding took a different form where they willingly allowed their bodies to be cut and bled as a way to strengthen their prayers. (Sometimes women, not in their menstrual cycles, would choose this way also)

The Chief said that this most potent and powerful practice has been completely misunderstood and is all lost in modern times.

The Chief offered us the opportunity to participate in such a blood sacrifice. Eight of the twenty (5 men and 3 women) chose to do so. We went outside, It was cold and foggy. The Chief told the men to remove their shirts and "make friends with the cold". I resisted at first, but did as he asked, and surrendered to the experience. Soon, I did not feel cold at all.

As we waited in line for the bleeding, he asked each of us to formulate a powerful prayer and keep our intentions focused on this throughout, The other participants (who chose not to bleed) held places in a surrounding circle, and all focused their intentions together. Even before the bleeding, I could feel the magnifying power of what was happening. When it was my turn, I held a sacred peace pipe to my heart and prayed to "End the destruction of the rainforests in the Lands of the Condor, and to stop the killing in Colombia".

The shape of a lightning bolt was cut into both of my shoulders. Each man received the same. Circles (of life and healing) were cut into the arms of each woman. The conscious wounds hurt and bled, but I felt the pain as a sacrifice to empower our prayers to end the suffering of others, and I willingly endured it. The intensity of the ceremony magnified even more. Some of our blood and flesh was given back to each of us in small blood red prayer packets.

Wrong. Took place December 29, 1890: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wounded_Knee_Massacre

The Stupid! It Burns! No rainforests in the "Lands of the Condor":

Quote from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condor
Condor is the common name for two species of New World vultures, each in a monotypic genus. The name derives from the Quechua kuntur. They are the largest flying land birds in the Western Hemisphere.

They are:

The Andean condor (Vultur gryphus) which inhabits the Andean mountains.
The California condor (Gymnogyps californianus) currently restricted to the western coastal mountains of the United States and Mexico and the northern desert mountains of Arizona in the United States.

With so much support how can Dr. Turi be a fraud?

Mike: There are a lot of ways you could've defended Turi's business, which to most people looks like outright looniness and fraud. But spamming us with half a dozen posts with maybe twenty testimonials wasn't the right way to do it.

There is a separate thread about "Dr." Turi (moved to 'Frauds' in 2018):
