2018 Marks the 50th anniversary of the formation of the American Indian Movement (AIM) and the 28th year of our annual Sundance. All past pipestone dancers as well as current and new dancers are invited to share in this most sacred time.

Hau, Anpetu Waste', This years Sundance will soon be upon us!
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST:
*Camp Days July 19 to July 24 (We need all the help we can get to prepare the Sundance Grounds)
*Purification starts July 21 (If you are dancing please try your hardest to be here by then)
*Tree day July 25
*Sundance July 26 to 29
*July 30 Clean up. (20 people can do clean up in 5 or 6 hours. Please stay the extra day if you can.)

Please come with an open heart and mind. There is much preparation before Sundance so please be ready to help where you can and to pitch in if asked.

This is a time of prayer please leave drama, negative feelings and any other negativities at the gate. No drugs, alcohol or fireams.

If you intend to dance you need:
*Canupa (pipe)
*Sundance medalion
*Men need skirts, Women dresses
*405 tobacco ties 101 each black, red, yellow 102 white
*6 prayer flags, 1 each: black, red, yellow, white, blue, and green
*Eagle bone whistle (not mandatory for women dancers)
*Men need Eagle feathers for their crowns and a rope and
harness for piercing
*Piercing pegs
Optional Items: Staff, Eagle fans

This is National AIM's (as opposed to Autonomous) Sundance. I haven't attended since 1998 though not as a participant. Twenty years ago money did not change hands and the Dance was legit. I can't really speak to it now.

Yeah.... I see white strangers, some from Europe, saying they're on their way to attend their first Sun Dance (!) 'Cause they found this page on the Internet. And the page owner is liking their posts. Wow.
