I can't take any credit for this research, I found this when I was cleaning out some old files.

Wasicu Sheridan Murphy is back in Florida and sadly was made the "Native" representative for the International Leonard Peltier Defense Committee which also recently relocated to Tampa Florida.  I would like to state and make it clearly known Sheridan Murphy is NOT a member of AIM - Florida and NEVER will be!  AIM - Florida supports Leonard Peltier but cannot support the International Defense Committee while they have a white man in charge and representing American Indians. At one point there was a website or blog exposing Sheridan. I'm going to try and find it.

Press Release
For nearly 20 years Sheridan Murphy has worked on behalf of Indian
people, both as part of the Tiospaye Indian Student Council at the
University of South Dakota and as the Executive Director of the
Florida American Indian Movement.  And over the last decade or so he
has protested "plastic" or "fake" Indians from one side of the Florida
coast to the other.  Upset over white people dressing up as Indians,
Sheridan Murphy recently lead a protest against the Chasco Festival.

Mr. Murphy's hypocrisy over this protest is two-fold.  First, he
claims to be protesting in order to protect Indian people and Indian
traditions.  But since when did Indian traditions include harassing an
Indian woman?  Since when did they involve stalking an ex-girlfriend?
What sort of Warrior for his people misuses funds donated to the
American Indian Movement and threatens to sell ancient pottery to
support his own lifestyle?

For the last six years Najah Tamargo has had to deal with Mr. Murphy's
abuse, and now that he has threatened her custody of her child, she is
finally taking public her story.  You can read Manifesto of a Madman
on the web at http://www.geocities.com/jesslee9999/Najah.html.

Secondly, Mr. Murphy has been protesting the insult that is made to
Indian people when non-Indians dress up like Indians and make a
mockery of Indian traditions.  Mr. Murphy himself has claimed that he
himself is Lakota, and that he gets his blood from his father's
family.   He has said that his family was one of the many victims of
various assimilation laws and that is how they ended up with such a
Westernized last name.

Recent investigation into newspaper articles and census reports have
shown that this is a complete lie.  Mr. Murphy's father, John Joseph
Murphy, was actually born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to
Irish-American parents.  In fact, all four of Mr. Murphy's
great-grandparents in his father's family were born in Ireland and
immigrated to the United States.   The man who has appeared in the
press and media across Florida, and on numerous Internet Sites, on
behalf of the Florida American Indian Movement isn't American Indian
at all.

This charade is fully exposed by former Florida AIM volunteer
coordinator Jessica Olson.  You can follow the steps that she took to
trace Sheridan Murphy's family tree and view the evidence for yourself
at http://www.geocities.com/jesslee9999/Sheridan.html.

I know there were questions when he moved the office into a government building, I know there were questions about using his position to advance personal vendettas, I know there were questions regarding items to be repatriated that disappeared, I know there were questions regarding his abusive treatment toward his partner, I know there were questions regarding embezzlement. I don't know if these questions were ever answered.
