« on: June 22, 2010, 12:50:20 pm »

I received an inquiry about Robert Standing Bear aka Leku Yongado Robert Standing Bear aka Robert Craig.

Apparently, Craig cancelled his European tour this year, but he seems to make regular appearances here usually.

Robert Standing Bear
New Mexico - "Vision Quest of the Shaman"

ROBERT STANDING BEAR is a spiritual healer, teacher and visionary. His healing work has gained respect and recognition within the mainstream healing community by incorporating ancient indigenous practices of shifting energies and re-aligning the body's electro magnetic meridians which contain and hold blocked life force caused by incidents of trauma, fear, and pain. He finds the central points of balance within an individual, and engages the blockages which then initiates an outpouring of emotional release. The result is the gift of discovering a new and healthy balance of the relationship between the sacred male and sacred female present with all beings.
He is a Kutani Priest, pipe carrier in the Ancient Tradition and keeper of the Sacred Fire.

We were approached by a beautiful woman with long white hair. She said to me, "Are you the initiate?" and when I said yes, she asked if she could clean my aura with sage smoke and told me her name was White Buffalo Woman. Then she said her husband wanted to chant a song for me.

Her husband walked over, tall and regal, his features spoke plainly of his Native American heritage. He told me his name was Robert Standing Bear, he was from Phoenix, Arizona and did a lot of ceremonial work as a shaman. He and his wife were not associated with the FOI, he had arranged to attend the Convocation because the spirit had told him there was something he must do there. Robert asked permission to chant a song for me he had written, and addressed me as his sister.

This entry offers some more info on his activities:

Robert "Standing Bear" Craig, Cherokee
Robert is the first Native American Architect registered in the state of Arizona, has been the president of his own corporation for 32 years-- Craig Associates Architects, P.C. Ceo, Western States Architects. He carries Architectural Registrations in 7 states and is knowledgeable in virtually every form of construction type and use. Volumes of construction dollars managed exceed $ 500 million, with specialties in commercial; medical; retail; multi-family; industrial; resort and recreational architecture. In the 80s, he was guided to devote 50% of his energy to spiritual work and ceremony. He recognized a strong need to mentor Native American young people in the understandings of business and other ways to be able to function and succeed in a culture in which their ancestors did not have the experience or ability to teach them. In 1995 he formed Seven Winds, a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of the old ways, songs, stories, ceremonies, and the dignity of Native people of all ages. Standing Bear is a Sun Dancer, Pipe Carrier, and in the Tsalagi (Cherokee) tradition is known as a Kutani Uku (holy man or priest). In 2000, Seven Winds was the coordinating sponsor for the 7th Annual Gathering of World Peace and Prayer Day, an event begun by Chief Arvol Looking Horse to create a bridge in unification of all people through spirituality. In addition, he has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 1975 and has extensive knowledge in the film creation and production world.

Craigs „Seven Winds Global Alliance“ is said to be a non-profit, but I could only find four entries in German language. Which is not surprising, as it seems to go by a different name: „Seven Winds Peace Village“:

GRANDMOTHER DANAWA NVWATI-KELLY is an Elder-Helper who has studied her Ani-Yunwiya / Cherokee traditions for thirty eight years. As a child, she lived and learned in the Tsaligi mountains around ancient Chota, the National Peace Town. Today she walks her path teaching the ancient prophecies, traditions, and rituals of her people. She uses herbs, the pipe and prayer songs in her healing work with those who are open and receptive and have teachable Spirits.

Grandmother Danawa is founder and Corporate Agent for Preservationists of Native American Sites, a Georgia activists group fighting Nationally to save the remaining First Nation's Sacred Sites and Burial Grounds. She is a Kutani Priestess and pipe carrier in the Ancient Tradition and keeper of the Sacred Bundle of the Kutani Altar Stone. For twelve years she has served her people as Ghi-ga-gu, Beloved Woman of the nation-wide Cherokee Unity Council.

She is currently working with four groups to establish teaching councils of Cherokee tradition in Maryland, Missouri, and Oklahoma, as well as Seven Winds in Southern Colorado. Three such councils already exist and are independently functioning. She travels internationally with active students in six countries and maintains contacts with traditionalists in seven cultures: Mexican Aztecs, Peruvian Incas, Somoan Polynesians, Australian Aborigines and the Maori of New Zealand.

Grandmother is an ethno-historian with two books currently in production. One introducing Ancient Cherokee Ritual and Ceremony and the other introduces Cherokee Stories, Poetry, and Prophecy.

Seven Winds are asking for donations to build several constructions on their premises:

Below you will find a list of projects that we need funded.

From the photos published on that site, the „special project“ seems to be in a mere planning stage with most of the buildings etc non-existant as of yet. However, planning has been done quite precisely, with necessary amounts for every construction on the premises mentioned. All sums added up, they are asking for $ 108,500 in donations – plus lots of volunteer work.

They also got a list of events they have participated in:

This person does ceremonies in the Czech Republic. You can watch and listen to what he has to say to his audience on this Czech internet TV program, if you can bear with the Czech translation:
