NAFPS Speaking Tour of Europe 2006
« on: April 07, 2006, 06:04:03 pm »
This is for all news about the upcoming speaking tour. Anyone with possible places to speakl, let us know. You can also IM me or use my regular email.

Here's what I know so far:

I'm leaving for Britain May 8 530P my time, arrive 11AM.
There are three dates in Britain, no exact dates yet, in London,
Glasgow, and one other city, all taking places between May 9 and May 16.
There's the one date in Netherlands, May 21.
Three dates in Germany, all near the French border, from May 22 to May
28.
There may be one in France, uncertain right now.

Any open dates, I'm more than willing to speak if possible.
I head back to the US from Frankfurt (after taking a train from
Mannheim at 630AM) on May 29, 11AM. And my first day of classes start
May 30.

The schedule in Britain, as posted by a flyer from Four Winds:

NATIVE AMERICAN SPIRITUALITY - MYTHS AND FACTS

Dr. Al Carroll (Mescalero Apache) on speaking tour in UK

It's hard to find good sources of information about Native American spirituality: books and the internet may not always be reliable.
Dr. Carroll will be speaking about the history and traditions of Native American cultures and especially about his own Apache people.

A former soldier, Dr. Carroll is now a history professor at St. Philip's College, San Antonio, Texas.  He will be arriving in the UK on 9 May 2006 and so far the following dates have been confirmed:

Wednesday 10 May - Glasgow - venue full.

Friday 12 May - Roehampton University (Crucible Centre of Human Rights) - 1 p.m.  More details to follow.

Monday 15 May - London - The Inn on the Green - 7 p.m.  Entry by donation.
Tube - Ladbroke Grove  Bus - 7/ 23/ /52/ 295
Under the flyover at 3-5 Thorpe Close.

With the generous support of Indigenous Links.

IF YOU COULD HELP BY ARRANGING A TALK BY DR. CARROLL PLEASE REPLY TO THIS EMAIL AND WE WILL CONTACT YOU.

The latest news is that the date on the 15th has been moved to the 16th. There is also possibly one more date in Britain in Winchester at a university, date still uncertain.

In the Netherlands, I'll be at the World Social Forum May 19, 20, and 21.

In Germany, there will be at least one date May 18th in Duesseldorf, three others in S Germany with no confirmed dates yet.

Will post again when I know more.

I'm sorry, I have bad news. My wife has taken very ill, we rushed her to the hospital this morning with internal bleeding and she is still very weak and will need a lot of time to recover. I really need to be with her. Please remember her in your prayers.

I apologize to everyone who has worked on this speaking tour and thank you. I will be glad to come speak at all the places we have booked once my wife's health is more stable. When this will be I don't know. I'll write to all the people involved. I also will not be on this forum much for at least a week and leave it in the good hands of three other very good moderators.

I am so sorry to hear this, Al! ? :'(

I hope she will recover soon. If anything positive at all, I am glad it didnĀ“t happen when you were here in Europe, but that you could be by her side all the time.

I will be thinking of you and your family.
