Title: Indigenous Migrants Conference in CA
Post by: amorYcohetes on September 20, 2011, 04:10:36 am
The National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (http://www.nnirr.org/index.php) is advertising (http://www.facebook.com/NNIRR) a conference and benefit (http://fiob.org/en/2011/09/indigenous-migrants-organize-cultural-awareness-conference-on-september-23-2011/) this Friday 9/23/11 in Los Angeles, CA on the rights and issues facing Central American Indigenous migrant communities.  It seems particularly focused on the Mixtec, Zapotec, and Maya of southern Mexico, communities which have large diaspora populations living and working in the agricultural sector in CA.  It strikes me as a worthy cause to support and a way to create solidarity across Native peoples and with allies.

The English version of the website is not perfect but it's pretty complete.

Also, Happy Equinox, all : )
