Title: i have a question, please ...
Post by: WineHippie on February 20, 2011, 06:54:41 pm
i have ideas running around in my head about some art
project, i am not sure what yet, i will have to use what
i have and what i can find, but ... i have images floating, too, and
wondered if it is disrespectful to make art which is clearly
inspired by, or would you say ripped off from?, indigenous peoples?
for example, i see desert ships with beautiful indian mastheads
and angels, too, combinations ... and then i see totem poles, with
every animal and face a symbol, amazing colors .....
so, can this be insulting? just asking, please don't land on me too hard ....

Art is art.  Express yourself in whatever way you see fit and see where it goes from there.

thank you for your comments, i have allowed my imagination
to play with the images i see in my head ... after spending some
time in this forum, i am so careful now, for example, at the library ...
i walk up and down aisles and let books "jump out" at me ... whenever
i thumb through a book which seems to be about indians or written by
and indian, i know i cannot just assume it is truth - i am grateful to have found this place
